Never been a big fan of Mike Vandermause. He runs a rag-tag unit up there at the ol’ Green Bay Press Gazette with some rather unpolished and unprofessional output, both online and in print. (One might charge that we here at CheeseheadTv are no better, but we would probably counter that we don’t have simple things like paychecks and corporate support and yet we seem to get things right for the most part, unlike some professional ‘journalists’ at the ol’ GBPG) Plus, you gotta love how he fired Chris Havel just so he could take over the lead Packers opinion column. (Ok, that’s completely not true, as far as I know, but it’s a good story and I’m sticking to it…)
With all that said, he strikes the right tone in his column today. The Packers should indeed not dwell on Thursday night’s loss. It’s one loss that had some very extreme mitigating circumstances. The team needs to refocus for the playoff run. They are 10-2 and in charge of the NFC North and in line for a bye. I can not stress how important that is. In fact, I’d submit that having the bye week is more important than having home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, if I didn’t know I’d get angry email.
