So Brett's number wont be retired until after he dies? I'm OK with that.

That is a fantastic article.

I have little doubt that the scenario painted in the Tundravision post is likely to happen with Favre. Actually, it may be even sooner if MM and TT don't move the team in the right direction this season. Favre is focused on destroying TT period. That's all he dreams about.
I remember all too well how Ray Rhodes was uncerimoniously dumped because he failed to deliver the expectations of the Exec. Comm. TT and MM are now walking on egg shells. If indeed, Favre's arm can be rehabed (not a given yet) the two Queen games become a benchmark that Tt and MM will have to demolish on the field of honor. If they fail and have another losing season, I don't see them surviving. But, good ole Brett will.
So, let's start convincing both TT and MM that this is not just another season. This could very well dictate the rest of their careers in GB. As a fan, GB must win 10 games and both Queen games (if Brett is there) to have a good year. Nothing less!

I have to agree that the article is well written & an interesting read. There's no doubt as Ron put it "the scenario ........ is likely to happen with Favre. " However, considering that the Pack has been around for decades & have had their fair share of "stars", there really has been only a handful of ugly separations with GB & their fans.
_____
The instant media that exists today has certainly embellished the Favre Fiasco. (unlike Lambeau's era) At the same time, Favre's comments or lack of comments have also added to the emotional value of the fiasco. In order to evaluate the Lambeau split you have to dust off the few articles describing the parting of ways by very few actual participants. The Favre Fiasco has been written about & analyzed by a multiple of hundreds. These accounts (right or wrong) will exist for all to see for 10, 20 or even 50 years & longer. This is the nature of 21st century communication & information pile-up.

It'll be very difficult for anyone to fluff-up the Favre Fiasco at anytime in the future. Search engines will always allow the fan to find the facts.

Also, I disagree that MM & TT are walking on eggshells. Continuity in both positions is the hallmark of solid, successful organizations. I believe Mark M. & the Exec. Comm. realize this to be true.

As a fan, all GB has to do is be a playoff team in 2009. I don't really care who they beat to accomplish this conclusion. I actually want them to go 16-0 but this is unlikely......

An added note to the above.
I wouldn't have a problem losing both games to the Vikes.
14-2 is not all that bad.

I think the key to this topic is that only one party is really being an asshole. Lombardi was trying to shake the org out of duldrums, so if he distanced himself from the history, that was his way of shaking things up. Same thing happened when Harlan took over, they had to move on from the glory years. None of the Packer fans want anything less than to contend no matter who the players are.

I heard on NFL Films somewhere that Favre is the most covered athlete ever. I'm glad he was a Packer and we could enjoy when his goals aligned with the organization's. Its unfortuneate that we had do see him talk to Greta about playing for the Minneapolis Vikings out of spite.
