One note to Andy, however:
When confronted with the wife wanting to watch Pride and Prejudice (or Lipstick Jungle, or the Bachelor, or any number of things I could never sit through...well, ok, the BBC Pride and Prejudice is actually excellent, but you get my drift) the correct response is: "That's great honey. I'm going to go play Madden, I'll see you when the movie/show is over."

Or you can fall asleep on the couch while the movie is on. In my experience, this will result in your spousal presence not being required the next time a Jane Austin classic is featured on television.
