T.J. Lang Reportedly Avoids Ankle Surgery

According to a report, the Packers offensive lineman didn't suffer any structural damage.

Offensive lineman T.J. Lang avoided any structural damage to his left ankle when he was injured in the Packers' recent loss to the New Orleans Saints, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.

"The Green Bay Packers starting right guard will not need surgery," writes Demovsky.

It's still not known, however, whether Lang will be available for the Packers' next game following their bye week on Nov. 9 against the Chicago Bears.

Head coach Mike McCarthy expressed confidence on Monday that Lang and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who injured his hamstring in the Saints game, would be able to return in time for the Bears game, but couldn't make any guarantees.

"We'll know more after we get back and our first practice on Monday," said McCarthy.

Judging by how overmatched Lane Taylor looked, the Packers may well be giving Tretter a chance to see the field at guard.

Tretter may well be the new Don Barclay of the O line, covering many positions. Comparing the two, I expect the Packers are hoping Tretter is better.

We went from "so far, so good" on AR down to "no guarantees". This is not good.
