The Seattle Seahawks were sitting pretty until suddenly Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice both ended up hurt. Now they're faced with questions at the receiver position again after having tried to answer them with Harvin. Down in San Diego, they're just trying to put the pieces back together after the A.J. Smith/Norv Turner years.
Here are three things worth watching when the teams face off at 10PM EST.
1) Can Golden Tate pick up the slack with Harvin and Rice out? Doug Williams has also been good in camp and Stephen Williams has impressed as well. If those three start locking up their slots, it leaves rookie Chris Harper, Jevon Kearse and Brett Swain to battle out for what will probably be the last spot.
2) New head coach Mike McCoy was brought in chiefly to fix what ails Philip Rivers. Even if Rivers takes just four snaps, we should see how confident he looks. Of course, offensive line and running back issues could threaten a rebound year by Rivers as well—so consider those a sub-group of watching Rivers.
3) San Diego also has questions at wide receiver. Since they allowed Vincent Jackson to leave town, this team has lacked anyone to replace him. Malcom Floyd hasn't gripped the position tightly, and now will battle Vincent Brown who has had a tremendous camp. We'll also see how far rookie Keenan Allen has gone to catch up to everyone else after missing OTA's and minicamp.
