The Quarterback Position

Tom Silverstein shines a light on the mess the Packers quarterback position is in now that Favre has retired.

One name he mentions the Packers might look at in free agency that I think makes a lot of sense is Tim Rattay. He was never given a fair shake in either San Francisco or Tampa Bay, but played surprisingly well in the West Coast Offense, especially under Jon Gruden. (I'll never forget the game two years ago where he started for Tampa against Chicago, everyone thought the Bears would tear him apart, and Rattay proceeded to throw for 268 yards and three TDs - and this was a Bears team that ended up going to the Super Bowl).

Given a full off season in McCarthy's quarterback school and a full training camp to learn and run the offense, Rattay would be a great addition and just the veteran presence Rodgers will need working behind him on the depth chart.
