The Plan Is In Place

Good stuff from Andrew Brandt yesterday. This passage in particular jumped out at me:

By now, most teams, if not all, know exactly what they would like to do with their veteran players and, perhaps more importantly, veteran players from other teams.  Of course, that’s for the teams to know and to keep to themselves unless and until it serves them to communicate that information with the players involved.

It's fun to debate back and forth what we as fans think the teams should or will do when it comes to free agency, but we often forget that Reggie McKenzie and the rest of the pro personnel staff do this kind of thing for a living. The plan is in place, we just don't know what it is. And that's the agonizing part...

In Wilde's post-season interview with Thompson, Thompson remarked that the Packers began this process early last fall.

So it not just that the plan is already in place, it that theplan is in place after months of debate from dude that seem to know a thing or two.

I sure feel better about that Plan with Capers driving the Defenive needs. Reggie has always been able to deliver the wants as expressed by TT. He does his job well.

Let's hope that coaches have a larger share of the input this year. I think that's what keeps our debate "Live and Well".

I hope any defenders we target in the draft or free agency come with a mean streak. We've got a few too many "good guys" and not enough brawling, slobbering bastards.

I think we need some nasty, knuckle draggers. Not bright, but they make up for in sheer anger and fearsomeness.

It's not like the two need to be mutually exclusive. Look at Troy Polamalu and Ray Lewis. Both of those guys are very intelligent football players (and intelligent in general) and both are fierce on the field.

They will need to have a modicum of intelligence too. Didn't one of the JSOnline reporters mention this year that, most of this team, although quite talented, is not exactly Rhodes Scholar material?

Someone please explain how we are going to switch our defense, resign Jennings and Collins and sign anyone else? When the Packers are only 18 million under the cap. That is ranked 19th in the league. Where are these defensive players going to come from?

They don't call us Armchair Experts, for nuthin'....
The fun part for fans is to "call it" and find out how close to the mark someone might end up being.
