The ONE (only one) Thing You Want to See in Tonight's Packers Game

The ONE (only one) Thing You Want to See in Tonight's Packers Game

It. Is. Time. The Packers' 2017 season gets underway with tonight's first Preseason game.  If you're thinking about tonight's Packers Preseason game, what is the ONE thing (only one - play the game right or don't play at all!) that YOU are most interested in seeing?

I put the question to twitter and interestingly, no one mentioned what is MY one top thing I want to see. Let's see if any of you get it.

Here were some of the twitter answers.

What is this mythical creature you speak of on the packers?

mnklitzke's picture

or lack of it ??

Philly has a first-rate O-line. I'm hoping we see their starters at least for a little while. That would be a good measuring stick on where the pass rush is at.

Zero injuries

ok. If I had to pick 1 thing I want to see tonight.

Its the rookie RB's.
This will be the first time that they will see live tackling. We basically know what we have in Ty. But during a season you have to have 2-3-4 RB's that can play because they take a pounding. This will be our first true look at the rookie RB's that will be asked to contribute.

I want to see Dean Lowery wreak some havoc. The Packers have been trying to find a DE to compliment Daniels for years, and I think Lowery could be the guy. He was great on family night and all reports from camp are that he's taken a big jump.

I don't trust our OLB's to get consistent pass rush, so we need to get some from the inside.

Josh Jones: Fact or Fiction?

Interior OL depth not named Don Barclay.

Would like to see some solid play (improvement) from our DB'S and no injuries.

That's two things.

following directions = lost art

Someone already said pass rush, so I'll say Max McCaffery. For all the attention Clark is getting, and Janis gets, McCaffery has similar height to Janis, fantastic timed speed, and has become the favorite of the backup QBs in practice. I'd like to see how he performs against an opposing defense. I'd also like to see if he can replace Janis as a gunner on special teams. If he can do well in those aspects then he is my favorite for the 7th WR spot.

RCPackerFan's picture

I'm just curious because I haven't heard, but can McCaffrey return at all? I don't recall him given any return opportunities.

If he could be another option as a Kick returner or used on special teams he could very well replace Janis.

MarkinMadison's picture

Dunno. Fair question.

Tundraboy's picture

All the above!

Jersey Al's picture

follow the rules!

Is my timeout over yet?

Tundraboy's picture

Ok, if one thing then that Gilbert is a revelation.

The game later on DVR as I am going to Miller Park tonight.

Cornerbacks. Especially King.

Healthy and confident Randall and Rollins.

Besides pass rush and improved defensive back play, I want to see the defense not give up and plays longer than 20 yards.

sonomaca's picture

Hundley. If he lights it up, may get 2nd round interest. Baltimore? Denver? Jets?

dblbogey's picture

If Hundley has a big preseason, and maybe a little solid regular season work, he'd likely bring a first rounder. Big demand for young, talented quarterbacks.

EdsLaces's picture

Jamal Williams ...earn your spot bud.

Handsback's picture

I want to see Frack man and Elliott in their pass rush first and foremost. The RB/WR battles will also be great to see, but as Curley says "that one thing that you have to have" Pass Rush! and of course GOLD.

JDK52's picture

I'd like to see a couple different guys bring a pass rush. Lowry, Gilbert, Calvin, show us what you got.

The kicking game.

more specifically punting

Turophile's picture

I want to see good things from the fringe prospects.

I know there will be bad things mixed in, but I'm looking for stuff that makes me go YO !

jlamias's picture

Less holding penaties.

I want to see MM get good looks from players. So what if our 2nd-18th string plays better than theirs. I want to see our backups get solid reps against a quality opponent. Put third stringers against Philly starters and 2nd string, etc. Let's see who can play. This talent evaluation process is one of the ways MM and TT separate themselves from other teams. As a coach myself, I'm paying attention to how he gets it done.

Wiscokid's picture

I would like to see improved linebacker play
