Teams Pitching Their Case To Favre

With word that Favre is seemingly only interested in playing in Green Bay, coupled with reports that both the Jets and the Bucaneers have been given permission by the Packers to speak directly to Favre, Thompson is no doubt hoping one or both of the respective GMs can make a convincing pitch to Favre to join their team. Up until today, the Jets had been thought not to be interested in Favre, but word out of Jets camp is that both Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens have looked, in the word of one observer, "Horrible. Clemens' very first pass was picked off." Is that enough to prod Mike Tannenbaum into action?

As for Bruce Allen, there were plenty of reports that he and Favre had dinner together a few weeks ago, a meeting that Allen has denied. No doubt he will be speaking to Favre directly and making the pitch that the Bucs are a Favre away from a real Super Bowl run.
