Former Rams running back Steven Jackson has reportedly signed a three year deal with the Falcons, as Adam Schefter tweeted late Thursday afternoon.
Another free-agent jolt: Rams free-agent RB Steven Jackson has reached agreement with the Atlanta Falcons.

On Wednesday, a fake tweet from Schefter saying that Jackson had signed with the Packers circulated through twitter and caused many happy reactions from Packer fans. However, Thursday’s tweet is the real deal as other sources have confirmed the signing.
The Packers were in talks with Jackson, but it remains unclear if they were seriously interested or used by Jackson’s agent to drive up the price on Atlanta.
While Steven Jackson could have provided a new dimension to the Packers offense, the odds that Jackson would have ended up in Green Bay were slim to begin with. Despite trying to sign Jackson in the past, Ted Thompson was not going to over pay for an aging running back when Mike McCarthy’s offense is centered around Aaron Rodgers and the passing game.
The Packers will probably look to add youth at the position in the draft in April, and the odds that Cedric Benson may be back with the Packers have now increased.
