Starks Not Ruled Out For Lions Game
James Starks may practice tomorrow and has a chance to play against the Lions on Thursday. That and other injury info from McCarthy's press conference this afternoon.

Mike McCarthy, meeting with the media this afternoon, said that running back James Starks' knee injury was "better than what it looked. It did not look very good."
McCarthy said Starks may practice tomorrow and won't be ruled out for Thursday's game against the Lions.
In other injury news, McCarthy said wide receiver Greg Jennings had a knee bruise but that he expected him to practice tomorrow and that he would be fine for Thursday's game.
Offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse was added to the injury report with a knee injury but McCarthy indicated that he would be fine.
In regards to the team's schedule, McCartthy said "The challenge is the mental preparation. I'm not going to lose the game on Tuesday or Wednesday because we practiced too much." I don't even know what that means.

I could only partially hear it, but was it Wilde lacking brevity on a question (sounded more like a long monologue) prompting McCarthy to make a really painful expression and ask what in the hell he was even asking?
I love that look. Laughed hard.

Yes. All hell broke loose on Twitter because of it. Much fun.

Why with all the scheduling guru's and computers. Do teams play on a short week with a thursday game. Would it be that hard to limit teams to 1 thursday game (week 1 exception) and give a teams a bye week the week before the their thursday game.

I suppose no news is good news with Neal?

Here's how I parse MM's sentence in the last paragraph:
We've got limited number of physical practices. "Too much" physical prep can't possibly happen. But there's only a few days between now and Thursday. We might lose the game due to too little time for mental prep.
But I'm just guessing.

Their bodies need rest.

I was so dreading coming here to see the headline "Starks out for season", and then my eyes only focused on Starks and Out.. mind F'NFL myself. Anyway... Good news.

it never occurred to me how vital starks is to this team until i saw him being helped of the field.
the realization that we could be lookin' at grant and saine the rest of the way sent a hot flash through me similar to the one i feel whenever i see cop lights rolling in my rear-view mirror.

Yeah, I hate that... Makes me spill my beer on my lap sometimes.

I would hold Starks out for this game just to let him heal a bit.
We can afford one loss right now, but we cannot afford Starks to be out when the playoffs begin.
As far as Homefield advantage should this cause us to lose it. Myth.
Rodgers simply will not care where he plays... because he will destroy.

The knee may be better than it looked, what about the ankle.

Unbelievable. From the look of the play I didn't expect anything other than season ending.
This begs the question: how much in being "injury prone" is just bad or good luck? Eating healthy, etc... obviously influence it, but in the end it's all about angles and force...
If that play happened last year, the result would be very different.

CM3 was injured the first two years with hamstring problems and a stress fracture. Who knows what was wrong with him earlier this year. I can't imagine that he doesn't eat right etc. Easier to imagine that he has pushed his body to the outer limits of what it is capable of - and sometimes it rebels. My guess for Neal some of it is just a matter of training wrong. Too much muscle, not enough flexibility.

McCarthy always holds guys out for at least as long as they SHOULD BE held out. I'll be very shocked if Starks plays Thursday.

I'm with you, but I don't think he'd throw it out there to the press if he had no chance of playing.

Great news on Starks! We need a strong running attack come December and January!
