Sporting News Picks Packers To Win Super Bowl 50

SN's Vinnie Iyer writes that the Packers will win a bookend Super Bowl to go along with their victory in the first one ever played.

And so it begins.

Slowly but surely over the course of the next few months, anyone and everyone who covers the National Football League will start to give their predictions on who will be playing in Super Bowl 50 and, of course, who will win the big game.

Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer has kicked off the proceedings and Packers fans will like what he has to say.

That's right, Iyer has the Green and Gold winning the whole freaking thing.

From his Sporting News post

The key this year is just getting back to that same point, with the home-field advantage tilting to the Frozen Tundra, far away from The 12th Man. With a favorable schedule, including a weakened NFC North, the best record in the league is attainable.

Getting to the Super Bowl means a happy homecoming for Rodgers, a Northern California kid. In Santa Clara, it won’t get better than another duel with that other elite No. 12, Tom Brady and the Super Bowl XLIX-winning Patriots. Beating the past two champs on the way to glory? The Packers shouldn’t want it any other way. Like Bart Starr well before him, it’s about time for Rodgers to take another leap into Lambeau lore by leading Green Bay to another heyday.

Getting five Lombardis in 50 years and sandwiching everyone else in NFL greatness? That has a good ring to it.

Sounds good to me.

This has saved me roughly 60 hrs of watching football this year and who know how many hours reading articles online. Thank you, Vinnie. Now, I can finally get caught up on Downton Abby.

This year is a huge year for the Packers for another reason: if the Packers sweep the Bear, the Packers will tie up the rivalry for the first time since (I believe) the 1930s.

The Bears leading the series has always annoyed me for as long as I have been a Packers fan and especially for the last 20 years when the Packers have thoroughly dominated the Bears but still trailed in the overall series.

Not to jinx anything, but it's been a long time coming.

Tell me about it! I've always kept an eye on the HTH record... it's basically their only bragging right... and we shall rip it from them, this year. By the time #12 retires, we're looking at a nice little lead.

GB is in the mix, for sure.
There is no way to guarantee a SB win.
Seems like some folks think an "all-in" approach would do that. I disagree, with Denver being the first example of that.
