Sitton Shows Support For Underwood

Josh Sitton not only confirmed that Brandon Underwood is the player under investigation, he called the allegations "bogus".

Wow. I have to say, I am starting to like Josh Sitton more every day.

First, he said this in regards to the allegations against Brandon Underwood:

I could care less about it. When you put the pads on, it is football time and I don't think about any other (expletive), you know?

And today, he followed it up with this:

I know Underwood is innocent when it comes to any legal issues. That’s my personal opinion about that. Legally, my opinion is that he didn’t do anything wrong or whatever. The allegations are very bogus.

That is both the first time anyone associated with the Packers has confirmed that the player in question is Underwood and it is by far the strongest, if not only, show of public support Underwood has received.

It's interesting to compare Sitton's words with the "One person's misjudgment really put a damper on it" quote from Matthews yesterday.

One thing is clear - Brandon Underwood has a new best friend.

It seems that all of the comments made about Brandon so far have been more about his making poor, thoughtless choices that put himself, and by association everyone else present at the condo, in a compromised position. I have not yet seen a comment made that inferred Brandon actually did anything illegal.

Likewise, Sitton is very careful to note his statement referred only to the legality of Brandon's actions (Or, at least, that the allegations against him are being manufactured). That doesn't mean that Josh Sitton agrees with the choices Brandon made, and it doesn't mean he isn't miffed to be put involuntarily into a bad situation due to those choices.

Some of the guys in that condo are family men, and all of them are in the public eye. I took most of the comments made this weekend as frustration and anger that an immature team mate decided to make questionable choices and put them all under the microscope, if even for a moment.

The comments to me almost sound like they were directed at Underwood, to try to encourage him to "get with the program."

Perfect. Sitton specifically mentioned that LEGALLY he didn't do anything wrong.

Yep. And that's all that should matter. Let him sort out his 'home' problems, at 'home'.

From what's coming out it appears that Underwood is perhaps the victim of wrong-place-wrong-women. It's likely he did cheat on his wife from what Sitton said, "I was put in a room and (in another room) something stupid happened." I suspect the only parties to take this further will be Brandon, the Packers and his thoroughly pissed off wife.

PFT -

"In the end, Packers CB Brandon Underwood likely will avoid charges for sexual assault because of the strong allegations that the two alleged victims initally made -- and then changed.

According to the Associated Press, the women claimed that more than one Packer player assaulted them -- while other players held them down.

Then, somehow, the claims morphed into an allegation that one player, Underwood, assaulted both of them."

Lessons WILL be learnt I'm sure.

It's beginning to look like Underwood won't be charged. I think he has two strikes against him, though. It may be unfair, but his first strike was from his checkered past in college. This incident is his second. Hopefully, this kid straightens up and never sees his third strike.

I’ve heard that Underwood AND the girls are most likely to be charged.

Indeed Sitton seems to be correct. Police indicated that will not likely file charges in the case. So, legally Underwood is free of concern. I imagine he will be facing another bump in the road. His wife! Try explaining why you got involved with two Milwaukee women age 33 and 31 while young mom was home taking care of two toodlers. Why did he risk bringing home a little surprise in the form of an STD is the big question he will have to answer. I'm guessing mommy may be talking to a lawyer about just when she should go after the money. Now or after he signs his next contract. If he does. Ouch!

I wonder how Underwood even got into that condo with the other guys, if they dislike/ distrust him so much. The other names on that list seemed like low-key straight shooters.

When you're at a party(especially a team invited)there is always someone that others may or may not like or trust. The main thing is you keep one eye on him and play DEFENSE when he is around, thus preventing yourself from getting FLAGGED.

More on the bar that they were all at. The name of the club was "Crusin Chubbies". Yes, the women were "dancers". Now the scene and accusations make some sense. They tried to set up one or more Packer players for a nice "payday". Only Underwood bit. And now he has to explain his actions at home.

My brother saw those guys out in Wisconsin Dells friday night. His fiancee lives in the Dells. They were at the Showboat earlier in the evening. My brother said Tauscher was there earlier, talking to his fiancee's niece, who bartends there. He actually thought Underwood was Jarrett Bush. He's a high school football coach, so he talked to a couple of the guys a bit. Everybody was cool, according to him.

He left me this phone message Saturday about seeing guys from the team, and I called him back and asked him if the cops were there at that point...
