A couple of Jake Stoneburners former college teammates at Ohio State have offered him congratulations in being signed to the Green Bay Packers’ 53-man roster:
Congrats to my bro @STONEYeleven getting called up for Green Bay, well deserved!

If true, Stoneburner would be elevated from the team’s practice squad, although the Packers would have to make a corresponding move on their 53-man roster in order to make room.
The Packers have a need for receiving help now that it’s been reported Randall Cobb will miss between four and eight weeks due to a broken fibula.
Some may have assumed the Packers would be looking to add a wide receiver, but at 6-3 and 249 lbs., Stoneburner is basically a wide receiver in a tight end’s body.
For that matter, so are Jermichael Finley and Brandon Bostick, all of whom figure to be split out in the Packers offense as long as Cobb and perhaps James Jones are out.
A spot on the practice squad also opens up with Stoneburner getting called up to the big leagues.
