Seven Packers Named to Pro Bowl

Starters include quarterback Aaron Rodgers, fullback John Kuhn, linebacker Clay Matthews and cornerback Charles Woodson.

Seven Packers were named to the Pro Bowl.

Four are starters on the NFC squad:

  • Quarterback Aaron Rodgers
  • Fullback John Kuhn
  • Linebacker Clay Matthews
  • Cornerback Charles Woodson

Three more are backups:

  • Wide receiver Greg Jennings
  • Defensive lineman B.J. Raji
  • Center Scott Wells

A host of others were named Pro Bowl alternates:

  • Kicker Mason Crosby
  • Linebacker Desmond Bishop
  • Tight end Jermichael Finley
  • Wide receiver Jordy Nelson
  • Cornerback Tramon Williams
  • Guard Josh Sitton
  • Return specialist Randall Cobb

The Packers official website pointed out that Crosby was a "first alternate" while saying the others were just "alternates" meaning it could take two or more players to not play in the Pro Bowl before they get the opportunity.

Players on the team that qualify for the Super Bowl do not play in the Pro Bowl.

I'm more surprised about Raji being a backup. I guess that pick six dance did wounders for his publicity

The last sentence is the most important one.

Exactly. Interesting to see Raji as a backup. Kinda thought he had a really off year. BUT, doesn't matter. They won't get to play, anyways.

Doesnt really matter except for bonus checks and prestige. They are all going to be too busy to play in it anyway :D

About time our team gets some recognition. Too bad they will all miss playing in the Pro Bowl.

If Bulaga hadn't missed any games you could make a case he should have been voted in, or an alternate at the very least.

If he plays at the same level next year while remaining healthy and doesn't get voted a starter I'll call it a 'snub'.

Raji was absolute garbage this year, he wouldn't even be starting on most teams, which is a real shame considering how good he was last year. The only people from this defense that should be on it are Matthews and Bishop.

Bishop is the best overall linebacker on this squad but he's put some really average games on film this year, you can easily find 5 - 8 ILB's more deserving in the NFC.

Raji isn't playing as well as last year, but it's been nothing but Raji and a bunch of 'other' guys on the line of scrimmage. Pickett can play the run, but nothing else. Raji's had 700+ pounds leaning against him more than any other DT in the league this year, so expecting him to have 'splash' plays in that scenario is insane.

Raji, as an under-tackle in a 4-3 scheme would be a shoe-in pro-bowler with a handful of competent players around him.
