Scandal

Loyal reader and Wausau resident PackOne informed me in the comment section below that his local CBS affiliate will NOT be showing the Packer/Bronco game tonight. I called the station to confirm, because I simply didn’t believe it. It turns out that it is true.
I am dumbfounded.
The blackout of last years Packer/Cowboy game for those residents that didn’t have NFL Network made perfect sense. For a local CBS affiliate to NOT show a Packer preseason game IN WISCONSIN makes no sense whatsoever. (The station in question, WSAW, is showing the nationally televised Cowboys/Texans game). The station manager could easily preempt the national coverage for the state coverage of the Packers game, but General Manager Al Lancaster is apparently refusing to do so. My JFK-conspiracy side thinks that Mr. Lancaster (who can be emailed at alancaster@wsaw.com) is making some kind of statement on the whole Favre debacle. I mean, what other possible reason could he have for NOT SHOWING A PACKER GAME IN WISCONSIN?
Dark days. Dark, dark days….
UPDATE: (sigh) Just when I got my juices flowing, I get this repsonse from Mr. Lancaster:
I wish we were. The game is on WAOW at 8pm. Go Packers! Thanks for watching Ch 7!
Oh. But I was there for you PackOne!

Does this mean I have pull around here?
Thanks for putting that big city power into action for us Wisconsin guys.
I couldn’t get my tractor started to get down there.
Glad things turned out…was about to open up a can of IP bombs on their site for such anathema…but looks like apocalyptic wrath won’t be necessary.:)
This is a response I got from an e-mail directly to Al Lancaster …
I agree with you sir. We only have the rights to the games CBS sends us.
The Packers are on WAOW at 8pm. We will be airing up to 10 Jets regular
season games and two Packers games. Thanks for watching Ch7!
Sorry, I should add that in my original e-mail I expressed (politely) that I would rather watch Packer games than Texas games … and that maybe Mr. Lancaster would be better suited for a job in San Antonio …
[...] TV is reporting today that WSAW-TV in Wausau is not carrying tonight’s Packers game, choosing instead to broadcast [...]
I really hope they show the jets games
( still bitter )
