Rodgers Won't Practice This Week

Mike McCarthy told reporters this afternoon that a decision on Aaron Rodgers would not be made until Saturday at the earliest.

Mike McCarthy spoke to reporters this afternoon and indicated that Aaron Rodgers had not participated in practice today and would not tomorrow. McCarthy said Dr. John Gray indicated it was "out of the question" for Rodgers to practice on Wednesday and Thursday and that his chances for Friday are "slim to none."

McCarthy also indicated that Rodgers was not in meetings and would not be all week.

Get ready for the Matt Flynn show on Sunday night.

The defense always shows up. Not so for the offense, even with Rodgers in there.

The D will likely have to play twice the number of snaps. I fear the season is over. Looking forward to the draft.

IMO Matt Flynn (who I like as a QB) actually has some pluses working for him going into this game.

Theres no tape on this guy and BB is left wondering what type of game plan MM will use with Flynn, unlike A-rod.

Bottom line GB is a defensive team, the defense is the only reason the Packers even have a hope to make the playoffs this year.

IMO the offense has been inconsistent, where as the defense has done enough every game to put the Pack in a position to win, usually keeping our opponents under 14 points.

Flynn is good enough to beat NE, as long as Players like Jennings are playing their A game and not shutting it down (Moss like) and play till the whistle blows on every play.

I certainly hope Matt Flynn has something that sure wasn't there last week in Detroit. Granted the Detroit loss was a total team failure on offense, but Flynn contributed his share to that.

Can you imagine the legend of Matt Flynn around GB if they pull this game out and he plays well, not great, but well? My goodness. Would instantly up his trade value. People would talk about it for years. Then Rodgers comes back to lead the Packers to wins the final two weeks. Boom! Division title.

Just on the funny side of this issue...I was think of the Magicman and Favre. Won't we all laugh if Flynn started another record for games started and out do Farve's record.

Now I know it is far fetched, but did anyone besides Wolf believe that Farve would become what he was (notice past tense).

Since the Pat's have the AFL locked up they will not be going all out (think preseason). I like the Packers odds in this game.

Sorry to be a bummer, I thought I had read even though NE has clinched a playoff spot, a win would guarantee the #1 seed and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. I wish that weren't the case...

This game GB vs NE has the same feel and I equate it to last season when Dallas had to go into New Orleans to play the 13-0 Saints. Cowboys had lost a couple in a row were 8-5, playoff hopes almost dashed and no one gave them a chance. Hmm, sounds pretty familiar.

Good QBs struggle w NE schemes, they give up tons of points and yards but it is BB and our line was shown plenty of holes during the Lions game. Flynn v BB? Hahah yeah that's not happening unless Brady's arm falls off and Bill takes snaps under center himself. BB will put together a nasty scheme for a first timer on the road and we'll get squashed I'm afraid to say. Start wishing for the NYG game and a loss by the Bears this week...gonna be a loooong Sunday night

Wow, that's a bold prediction.

You're picking the best-performing team in the NFL to blow out a team that not only is the most injury-plagued team in the league but also will most likely be playing without its starting QB?

Man, you are a brave renegade swami of football.

I'm not saying you have to be a freakin' homer, but if you feel the need to go out of your way and vocalize that the beat-up Packers are going to get owned by the powerhouse Patriots, that just makes you seem like less of a Packers fan and more of a hater/band-wagoner.

I don't think there's anyone who needs to be told that this game is going to be an uphill battle, but for the love of god, man, temper yourself and hope for the best.

Its not that I am going out of my way to point out to obvious, but the Pats are the best in the NFL right now and Brady could turn water into wine. Its not that I am a hater, but at this point can you even blame our struggles on our injuries? We have been super injured on the defensive side of the ball and have over come that, but really even with the services of Finley and Grant, do you really think with a first timer on the road in Flynn, we would fare that much better? I dont really think so. I would love to be the first one to eat my words if we win this game, I am just not thinking it will go that way. I dont think the season is over, its just that this weeks test is almost overwhelming, also the fact that the Bears are playing against the Queens' with a 3rd stringer. I hope the Pack win, then everyone can hate on what I said, but it is the obvious thing that everyone is honestly thinking and I am just saying it...

Hope is a good thing to have, but maybe not to bet on. Its hard to see this beat-up Packer team having much chance vs. the currently performing Pats, but the Jets game had the same feel too. This Packer team has moxie, and more quality depth than they are credited with. That all said, this is a big hill to climb!

Actually, the key game for the Packers' playoff hopes was last week, with a divisional opponent, as was Atl. This one doesn't matter as much since NE is an AFC team. Of course at this point, every game will matter since GB threw away earlier opportunities. Hope is a flickering flame.
I wonder about the players' attitude.

The problem with the Pats is they don't panic when they fall behind ..... Even if GB can stay close or even lead at half, GB's effort has to be 60 minutes .... Face it, NE is everything GB aspires to be .... The only thing that will save GB from a thrashing are NE turnovers & Flynn playing lights out ....

Two concussions in 2 months ..... There's a good chance we won't see AR again until 2011.

true. the thing that worries me is that this team has NOT played a solid 60 minute game all year.

If ever there was a time to start, it would be now. Backs against the wall, facing arguably the best team in the NFL. It starts with not looking past this week as being 8-6. Let's see 'em fight for that 9-5. Believe in yourselves like we believe in you. Packer pride!

This is the first time in 20 years or so that the #1 QB will not be starting for the team. It's fascinating that one week after Favre's streak ends, so does Rodgers'.

Absolutely. I never gave up on this team during the Lindy Infante years, I won't start now. I have a 1992 team photo, the actual photo, autographed by Mike Holmgren, because I wrote a letter as a boy wishing him all the best of luck, that the Packers were my favorite team, and I'd be a fan no matter how they do. Until I have no left in me, I'll believe in them boys each and every week. Go Flynn, GO!

I love that bleed green and gold commercial. Hell, this is the Packers. Each season we don't win the Superbowl, the world is somehow not quite right, but at least we can be 1 & 1 with da Bears, and we swept the Farve Queens. Pats are due for a letdown. Matt has a lot of upside - another Jerry Krammer epic in the making. Go Pack!
