Rodgers "Very Optimistic" That He Will Play

All signs point to Aaron Rodgers starting against the Dolphins on Sunday.

In the locker room session open to the media after practice today, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers indicated that he was "very optimistic" that he would start the Packers game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, after participating in today's practice on a "Limited" basis.

This followed Mike McCarthy's press conference where the head coach stated that Rodgers had gone through the NFL's new concussion protocol, including a visit to an independent specialist, but that more testing would have to be done tomorrow before Rodgers could be officially cleared to play on Sunday.

"@Greg_A_Bedard: Rodgers said he wasn't feeling like himself BEFORE that final hit. Couldn't pinpoint when exactly it changed for him"

Emphasis mine. That's very interesting, to the say the least. And helps explain his poor 2nd half.

agreed, who knows though. Rodgers the first half was on fire even though we didn't score he was making throws out there then it all went down hill. He seemed off, very uncharacteristic

Worried about this game, Miami very physical, is getting Crowder back. Maybe they should save AR for the Vikes game.

No way. I think they need Rodgers to have any chance of winning.

Now Matthews, on the other hand, I would definitely rest this week in preparation for the Vikings.

It was likely on that QB keeper early in the game.

One local sportswriter pointed out his stats before and after that specific play, and the difference was astounding.

Dude!...I kept yelling NOOOOooooo! and it felt like it was in slo-mo while Rodgers gets crushed on that play.

I really didn't expect him to get up after that play, just based on the way this season's been goin'

That actually doesn't look too bad. On the slow-mo replay, Rodgers appears to get below most of the carnage. It looks like the two defenders hit each other harder than they did Rodgers.

AR may play but .....

" DE Mike Neal (shoulder) did not practice at all. He reported some shoulder pain after Sunday, but it got worse Thursday and there's doubt as to whether he would play. Only B.J. Raji, C.J. Wilson and Cullen Jenkins are healthy. "

" LB Clay Matthews (hamstring) and end Ryan Pickett (ankle) are in the same boat as yesterday, unable to practice.

Does it ever end?

In addition ....

" LB Brandon Chillar (shoulder) did not respond well to practice Wednesday and did not practice. "

What if Aaron is not cleared to play? Packers go into game with one Quarterback?? Maybe we get Jennings involved in offense again as QB!!Something tells me Pack knows Rogers was going to play for days or they would have brought Harrel back..

If Rodgers had to sit out the team would call up Graham Harrell from the practice squad to be the back-up on gameday.
