Rodgers To Have Same Line Options As Favre

McCarthy held court yesterday at the NFL owners meetings. (Actually, by all accounts, he was one of the least popular interviews - guess he needs to either win a Super Bowl or cheat to get noticed...) The tid-bit that I found most interesting was McCarthy's indication that Rodgers will be given the same leeway at the line of scrimmage to call the run-pass option. This was one of the key elements that made McCarthy's offense so dangerous, and I worried a bit that Rodgers would not be given as much freedom as Favre at the line. (Which, really, could be understood.)

Now, Rodgers will by no means pick up where Favre left off. The reason this option was so dangerous in Favre's hands was because the 17 year vet had seen every single defensive front known to man and called options at the line accordingly. Rodgers will take plenty of lumps, but I expect him to have the offense moving pretty fluidly by mid-season.
