Boy, I am just mystified by this injury. I would love for someone to clue me in as to what the injury was that takes you out like that, and how he will avoid surgery. Please don't read this the wrong way, I'm not saying he hammed it up or anything like that.

Hey, resident medical advisor Mr Stroh? Got an opinion on this?

Why did you have to poke a stick into the hornets nest Lucky?

Actually I Do... I think he had some numbness in his extremities due to how his head got hit by the shoulder. He was moving his head and talking right after the hit. I doubt he ever lost all feeling in his limbs, tho that is a guess but I haven't read anything that said he lost all feeling.
Any neck trauma and numbness/tingling sensations is enough for the trainers to immobilize him. If he doesn't play again this year, I would be surprised.

Can't say for football but we had a dude take an F-18 horizontal stab to the head during FCS checks. Guy was down like he was paralyzed; I mean no toe, leg or arm movement at all. We finally got him down to medical they thought he was a done. two days later I saw the dude sitting in the galley. He said his neck hurt like you couldn't believe but he was gonna be okay. unreal.

I wonder if this will just be a bad stinger and he'll be back in 3-4 weeks...
October 21, 2013 at 02:36 pm
that's what i was thinking. really bad stinger that essentially paralyzed him briefly.
doesn't sound like concussion at all or any kind of serious spine/neck injury considering he was walking around today and all tests so far are ok.
Prayers out to Finley and hope he can resume daily activities tonight.
worry about football later

That is exactly what I was wondering too... If this was a stinger type of thing.
I agree with you some guy. He doesn't need to worry about football now. Life comes first.
I'm just thinking this was a stinger type of thing. Probably doing a lot of precautionary stuff to make sure there is nothing missed.

No need for surgery is a huge sigh of relief.

Fantastic news on 88. Lets hope he can come back in his own time and be as good as ever.

If JMike is healthy enough and is willing to return, this team is going to have a boat-load of talent returning in the second half of the year. The team just needs to keep winning especially with two divisional games coming up.
Anyway, it sounds like great news coming out of GB regarding Finley's health, whether he continues playing or not.
October 21, 2013 at 05:23 pm
If he is willing to return is what I'm thinking is his biggest obstacle. His son was already really upset seeing daddy get a concussion. Now this happens shortly after? I wouldn't be surprised if Finley walks away. He cleared what 9 or 10M the past 2 years...
His willingness to play again would seem to be the only thing that would prevent him from playing again in a few weeks or a month.

Only better news would be he never got hurt.

yes!

This is great news for no reason related to football. That guy was laying on the ground paralyzed. Today he is walking around. I don't care if he ever plays another snap; he isn't paralyzed!
