Report: Quarless Enters Plea, Sentenced To One Year Probation For Gun Incident

NFL discipline could be next for the Packers veteran tight end.

From John Diedrich of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

On the day he returned to the practice field, Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless on Monday entered a plea and was sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine for firing a gun in a late-night incident in Miami Beach last July.

The NFL is expected to do its own investigation now that court case is over, according to Quarless's attorney, Edward O'Donnell, and could impose its own punishment.

No telling when the league's punishment, if any, might come down but it would be a surprise to see anything happen this season.

"I feel like I've taken responsibility for it all along," Quarless said when he met with the media after practice today.

Cut Quarless and re-sign Colt Lyerla if the pack wants a real TE.

One year probation for firing a gun drunk in a city? If I did that I would be a felon, sit in jail for a while, and get out with a few years on probation. Money talks.

While the Packers are thin at TE, they could've sent a message about character if the let the Vikings pick him up.
Hopefully this turns out to be the story of a young man who never does again. Of course Q is in his mid 20s so he isn't really young.

Well, I think Quarless is better than Richard Rodgers but that is hardly a guarantee of success.
