Report: Bishop Headed for Visit with Chiefs Following Vikings

As reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network...

Obviously there's a connection between new Chiefs general manager John Dorsey, who used to be a front office executive in Green Bay, and the recently released inside linebacker.

The Chiefs are seeking a counterpart to Pro Bowl inside linebacker Derrick Johnson as a starter at inside linebacker in their 3-4 defensive scheme. Internal options free agent signee Akeem Jordan and rookie Nico Johnson, but neither are surefire solid starters, or at least they have yet to prove they are.

Of course, a lot still depends on the health of Bishop who is coming off a torn hamstring and tendon, which forced him to miss the entire 2012 season. There also may be competition from the Vikings, and perhaps other NFL teams, for his services.

With every visit, my relief grows.

To what relief do you speak of? Relief that the chances he is a Viking go down with every visit or relief that Tinkering Ted made a wise decision?

I really liked Nico Johnson going into the draft.
