Ravens Sign DL Chris Canty to Three-Year Deal

The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a three-year, $8 million deal with defensive lineman Chris Canty, who was in Green Bay last week for an official free-agent visit.

Canty did the reporting of his new deal over Twitter.

The deal includes $2.8 million in guaranteed money. However, the Packers were likely never a part of any serious negotiations for the free agent five-technique.

Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette spoke with a Packers source who said the team did not offer Canty a deal during last week’s visit because of “medial concerns.” A knee injury forced Canty from seven games last season.

Over four years in New York, Canty registered nine sacks, but also missed 15 games.

Well to tell you the truth, I’d rather see them sign Hill from Detroit or the kid from the 49ers. They HAVE to get D-Line help at some point.

If Aaron Nagler is around, I would like to ask why he blocked me on twitter? I really never wrote anything bad and am just curious.

Wow. Three years for $8M is not a lot of dough. If he’s healthy this year will look like a huge missed opportunity.

Yeah, and that’s just about what Cullen signed for as well… I was really hoping to bring one of those vets in.

Well, if it was a medical decision, so be it. Does anybody think Ted may think Jolly can contribute this year? Man, that would be sweet.

Well, Ted just renegotiated Jolly down to veteran’s minimum. He’ll at least get a chance to come to camp and win a job.

That would be seriously sweet. I’m pulling hard for Johnny Jolly.
