Railbird Central Podcast: Running Back Predicament

Episode 771

For the second consecutive episode, we have a guest from ThePowerSweep.com joining us on the show. This time it's Jon Meerdink, who helps us look at the running back position for the Green Bay Packers. With only one true halfback under contract for 2017, Meerdink shares his thoughts on free agency and the NFL Draft and where the Packers may or may not find help. After the interview, I look at the where the Packers come in on the annual special teams rankings by the Dallas Morning News.

Adrian Peterson would not be a good fit, agreed. Also agree on the Lacy deal, but would definitely not over pay, let the Chiefs, or Raiders pay them more than 3 million for 3 years, fine by me...

The draft is loaded with talent at running back, I personally like Jamaal Williams - BYU and James Conner - Pitt. both big patient backs downhill runners between the tackles, most importantly that can pass block, would set up play action open up lanes for all wideouts jordy and adams deep, cobb and cook in the middle. One of them should be available in the 4th round.

I like TJ Watt a lot, Takkarist Mckinney is alright as well but I think TJ would be more advantageous to a struggling pass rush and would help with run defense as well at the edge, D line did solid against run, protecting the edge was not always our strongest suit.

Lacy put it in his contract if he's injured or don't get so many yards .

Would like to see Lacy back and healthy , he came through when Rodgers was out hurt, at least a one year deal with an option for 2 , I don't want to waste a pick on a running back early when we need defensive picks,
