Raiders Request Permission To Interview Packers' CB Coach

New Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie continues to comb through the Packers coaching staff as he and his head coach Dennis Allen put together their staff.

From Steve Wyche with NFL.com:

The Raiders have requested permission from the Packers to interview cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr. about their defensive coordinator job, a league source said Wednesday night.

New Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie knows Whitt from his years in the Packers' front office. The 33-year-old Whitt joined Green Bay's staff in 2008.

The Raiders have already interviewed former Chargers defensive coordinator Greg Manusky about their vacant defensive coordinator job. Oakland hired the Texans' Greg Knapp to be its offensive coordinator earlier this week.

McKenzie has said that new Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has the authority to hire his own staff.
