Quarterback Harrell Signed Through 2013

Harrell was signed to a league-minimum salary of $450,000 this year, $540,00 in 2012 and $630,00 in 2013.

When quarterback Graham Harrell was signed to the Packers' 53-man roster earlier this week, it was to a three-year deal that will keep him in Green Bay through 2013, according to Brian McIntyre of Football Outsiders.

With backup Matt Flynn scheduled to become a free agent at season's end, it's possible Harrell could be the primary backup to starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the next couple seasons.

Harrell signed league minimum salaries of $450,000 prorated over the rest of the current season, $540,000 in 2012 and $630,00 in 2013.

The three-year deal is consistent with other deals signed by running back Brandon Saine and offensive lineman Ray Dominguez, the two other players signed to contracts after a previous stint on the practice squad earlier this season.

A similar situation happened to Harrell last year, when he spent the early part of the season on the practice squad before being promoted to the 53-man roster following the concussion Rodgers sustained in the Week 14 game at Detroit last year. He was on the roster for the remainder of the season, playoffs and Super Bowl.

Harrell is likely to be the front runner to be the Packers' No. 2 quarterback next season assuming Flynn leaves for an opportunity to become a starter elsewhere in the NFL. However, the Packers may consider other options in free agency and perhaps more likely, the NFL draft for additional quarterback depth.

One out of two Harrells ain't bad. Good for Graham, who in every picture I've seen of him has that goofy grin on his face. Maybe he's got enough cash now and can afford to get out of Zombo's basement.

Does he really live in Zombo's basement?

Love this move. Man, I seriously hope Tom Clements can stick around at least ONE more year to give Graham a good offseason.

I wonder where Flynn would go should he leave.

Washington, Miami, or Seattle would be my best guess.

I have to admit, when I first read, "Harrell added to the 53 man roster" I thought it was Justin.
