Putting Two And Two Together
Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews appears to be a lock to win the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year Award.
DALLAS – At 6:00 p.m. Central time, NFL Total Access at the Super Bowl on the NFL Network is airing the live announcement of the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year Award.
According to a press release, Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews will also appear as an interview guest on NFL Total Access at 6:00 p.m.
Most observers already made the assumption that when the announcement of the DPOY Award was moved up to Monday from its previously scheduled time on Friday, either Matthews or Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu would win the award.
This all but confirms the possibility that Matthews will win the honor.

The Steelers did it from 74 - 76, the Bills in 95 and 96, and the Ravens in 03 and 04. Still, it will be awesome if the Pack can do it this year :)

If it were anyone from the Steelers it would be the silverback James Harrison not Troy. Congrats to Clay! He can prove he deserves it more than Harrison on Sunday.

That shouldn't surprise anybody.
Funny thing is, I just went over to the GBPG. Their story was titled Polamalu wins DPOY. When I clicked the link it was an article about how CM3 was the DPOY, stats and everything. GBPG was clearly thinking like we all were that CM3 would get the award as they had already written up the article about it and accidentally put it in there.

Losing DPOY to Troy P. is not a slight .... Troy P. is a big-time player ... CM3 hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in Dallas is still the bottom line ... CM3 will have many opportunities to be DPOY before he's done ...
