Platoon (Good Movie, Bad Strategy)

Our friend Brian over at Railbird Central makes an unexpected argument today, calling for a platoon system at the quarterback position should Favre come back, thereby allowing Aaron Rodgers a series or two (in the first half only) to gain valuable regular season experience.

Allow me to explain why this will never happen.

Basically, Brett Favre would not sit down. Period. Does Brian really think that Favre would dedicate himself all off season, go through his personal core workouts, attend two boring-as-hell mini-camps, go through training camp, sit through endless meetings, all to play 16 games and then NOT take every snap from center? The only thing that brings Favre back (IF he comes back) IS those series in those games. The man loves to play, not to practice, meet, or work out. So while great in theory, I can’t see anything other than injury keeping Favre out from under center during the regular season.

I so agree… the man never sits if he thinks he can win…and SIR BRETT don’t play unless he can win .. i do think he will come back at least one more year.

Nor should he sit down if he’s playing at the level he was last year.
