Pickett Suffers Concussion, Expected to Play

In other news, head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Marshall Newhouse missed practice because of a personal matter but is expected to play Sunday.

Starting Packers defensive lineman Ryan Pickett suffered a minor concussion at practice on Thursday and didn't practice on Friday, however he is expected to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Pickett is officially listed as questionable for this weekend's game, but head coach Mike McCarthy said in his Friday press conference that the team doctors are not very concerned about Pickett and that he's confident the defensive lineman will be cleared to play.

Cornerback Sam Shields, however, is not quite in the same boat. Shields did not practice and is listed as doubtful for the Vikings game. McCarthy said he's still undergoing testing but didn't close the door on him playing on Sunday either.

The head coach said Saturday would be a big day for Shields as far as seeing where he's at and determining if he can play.

McCarthy confirmed that left tackle Marshall Newhouse missed practice because of a personal matter but wouldn't elaborate on what that matter is. McCarthy also said Newhouse is ready to play and he expects him back in time to travel with the team tomorrow.

Newhouse has been the subject of a lot of attention this week because he'll be facing NFL sack leader Jared Allen while making only his third career start.

Coincidentally, rookie offensive lineman Ray Dominguez has the same status as Newhouse: didn't practice for personal reasons but is expected to play if needed.

Neither linebacker Clay Matthews nor offensive lineman Josh Sitton practiced on Friday, but they're both probable to play.

Linebacker Jamari Lattimore has officially been ruled out for the Vikings game after not practicing all week.

Without Shields, will Woodson move to a more traditional CB spot or does Bush just take his spot.

Also, is it safe to assume we'll get our first Davon House sighting?

Typically Woodson has still played the slot when Jarrett Bush has also played this year.

And I would say no, it's not safe to assume Davon House will play this week. I wouldn't rule it out entirely, but I don't think it's a given.

I can only base my information upon what I heard from Mike McCarthy. If there's another interview that exists that contradicts the information McCarthy gave, I have no knowledge of it.

Pickett has never provided much of a pass rush, but he is invaluable in stopping the run, which will be important against Adrian Peterson.
