Pelissero Leaving The Press-Gazette

Just when the Green Bay Press Gazette was getting readable…
That’s right, an honest to goodness source has told Cheesehead TV that Tom Pelissero, Assistant Sports Editor and prodigious Packers beat writer for the Green Bay Press Gazette, is leaving the paper for a new position at ESPN Twin Cities.
Normally, the departure of a beat writer is not newsworthy – but this is different if only for the fact that the Press Gazette had made such great strides online, between the Twitter presence and the live blogging (even if they stole that idea from us) to the extremely popular Insiders videos – all spearheaded by Pelissero’s efforts. The thought of Mike Vandermause taking the lead in these areas, well, scares me.
I haven’t yet spoken to Tom but I have an email in to him. I got to meet him at the Combine, have a few beers while talking football. He is a fantastic bloke who is a real talent, one that I only started to appreciate this time last year. And this is all made even more depressing when you realize just how young he is. The bastard.
So good luck to Tom…and God help the Press Gazette.

Ohh man. His articles and chats were the only ones worth reading. Now he has to write about the Vikings? Poor guy..I’ll miss him.
will be a great loss. Seems like a nice guy and did his job extremely well.
May be a bigger loss to Packer fans than #4.
Tom was definitely the highlight of the GPG. However, as a resident of the greater Twin Cities area, I am looking forward to his future work for ESPN Twin Cities. Hopefully he gets a radio show on the “new” ESPN radio presence. (KSTP 1500 recently added an ESPN affiliation and a bigger stress on sports). Basically, I’m hoping for a better alternative to KFAN, the sometimes-sports station. Good Luck, Tom.
Ruppert – this is def a direct strike at trying to get some of their audience.
Poor bloke.
This is sad news, but it isn’t exactly surprising–have always thought he was headed for bigger and better things eventually. I’ll miss the guy’s sense of humor most of all. Good luck, Tom.
What are you smoking? “Bigger and better things”. Check the credentials son; this is THE GBP he’s leaving. To go where? Cover the queens? Where do the keep their hardware.
“Bigger and better things”. Pffft, what color’s the sky on your planet?

He’s from the Cities if I understand correctly. Anyway, maybe they’ll get rid of that puke Kevin Siefert. LOL.
Yeah, Tom was awesome. They’ll have to come up with something good to replace him.
Gonna miss reading Judo Puppy’s articles. Best wishes, Tom.
He was a pretty good info guy. Had some decent ideas for the PG. But if he wants to go ride the purple nurple, well, beat it Tom.

Fitzcore, I didn’t mean to diss the Packers by saying that I thought Pelissero was headed “for bigger and better things.” But I think the guy is going to end up being one of the top guys on ESPN nationally. He is a very, very talented reporter–smart, articulate, engaging, knowledgeable, with an excellent sense of humor. And so young…. The Twin Cities market is much bigger than Green Bay, so it is a logical stepping-stone for him professionally.

While you’re at it, could you ask him how he’s managed to keep looking 12 yrs old all these years?
I can only assume it was a deal with the devil. Now his soul is being taken to hell. Or as they refer to it up here, Twin Cities sports talk radio.
BTW, does Wilde get a piece of this action? Without his success on 540, I doubt Tom would have a shot in the TC.
