Pawn Retailer Publicizes 2010 Super Bowl Ring

A pawn shop in Appleton is taking to social media to publicize their acquisition of Super Bowl ring the Packers received less than a year ago.

It's been less than a year since the Packers received their Super Bowl rings in June of 2011. It's almost hard to believe one is being pawned already.

But that's the case in a tweet from Pawn America, a pawn retailer with locations across the Midwest, including one near Green Bay in Appleton, Wis. where the supposed ring is located...

At the moment, all the information that's available about the ring is this solitary social media message––at least that we're aware of. The retailer claims its authenticity, but does not name who the ring belonged to.

UPDATE: Following the lead initiated by social media, reporter Maureen Wallenfang of the Appleton Post-Crescent dug up more information on the item, which is not a player's ring.

According to the report, the ring has the name "Pace" on the side and the certification paperwork lists the seller as Sarah Pace who is listed as "Atrium Operations Lead" in the front office for the Packers.

The article also indicates that the ring was sold outright, not pawned.

"Interested buyers should be prepared to shell out $9,999, plus 5 percent tax," writes Wallenfang.

Did this player borrow against it or flat out sell it to the shop.
I don't know for sure but,if it was only a loan, the shop can't display it as a sellable item or advertise the person who borrowed against it.

It could be anyone. My friend got a job with the Packers as an accountant around Thanksgiving before the run and he got one.

My guess is Jason Wied.
