Patriots Targeting Jenkins

It figures.

Now, this could be the mother of all smoke screens, but I would not put anything past Belichick and company. In fact, I wouldn't be surpised if they were trying to jump ahead of the Packers specifically becuase they think Thompson wants to select Jenkins.

Let the games begin!

He writes at National Football Post and he was incredibly accurate on his reporting during the first few days of free agency, thus my trust in him this time around...

I just want the Jenkins we already have to play a full season, sometimes it seems like he could be DPOY.

If that's true, Jenkins may have just become a lock to be selected by Mangini with the 5th pick.

Just heard on ESPN that the Pats may have their eye on Tyson Jackson and would possible move up to #8 to get him. I'm guessing it is all B.S. at this point.

I just don't get the Packer's potential interest in Jenkins. How is he going to get on the field? I mean I guess he could be in the nickel but does it not make more sense that an OT, DE or OLB would see more playing time and make more of an impact in 2009???

ESPN is taking King's SI blurb and running with it.

Andrew - why are you so obsessed that the first round pick see the field as a starter? Why can't he come in on sub package and grow form there? Nothing wrong with that at all.

Jenkins could be a starter in the unlikely event that Collins holds out and eventually is traded or cut. Otherwise he's a backup for a while.

I see what you are saying Aaron and that's why I said I guess he could be in the nickel. But he'd have to play ahead of Williams and Lee (unless someone gets hurt or holds out). Compare that to a DL, OLB or OT who is almost guaranteed to see good playing time off the bench or starting). I'll say it again - I just don't get it.
As far as Bomdad's comment about starting at safety - Jenkins is not a safety. Some pundits say he may be one day, but is it reasonable to think he comes into the NFL in a new position and starts???
Help me out here bloggers. Why am I the only one making this arguement that Jenkins is not the right pick at #9????

Jenkins is not the right pick at # 9. GB has T. Williams, P. Lee & Blackmon to back up Harris & Woodson. They can draft a CB next year if need be.

Further rumours actually have NE targeting T. Jackson, not Jenkins.
