Just going over the Lions game again and noticed something interesting -
At the start of the 4th quarter, Packers up 31-12, with 14:34 remaining, Favre hit Driver on a shallow cross and Driver, as he has so many times, turned the play into a huge gain, bringing the ball down to the Lions' 4 yard line. Two passes and one run later, the Packers faced 4th and Goal. The field goal team dutifuly ran onto the field, and Troy Aikman made a crack how if this were the Patriots, they would be going for it.
As it turned out, that might not have been the worlds worst idea. After Crosby's kick, the Lions stormed back, closing the gap to 34-26 with 6:34 remaining. Only a brilliant final drive from the Packers sealed the victory. But if the Packers had kept their 'foot-on-the-gas', so to speak, and gone for the touchdown earlier, the Lions would have never been in a position to threaten.
Yes, yes, the Packers won. Hindsight is 20/20. Just found it interesting that perhaps Bill Belichick isn't as crazy as everyone thinks he is...
