McCarthy: Ryan Taylor had surgery (on his knee) today. Went well. He’ll be on the front end of the length of time,no more than a couple weeks

Taylor’s injury came as a surprise, having gone unreported in the immediate aftermath of the Green Bay Packers’ game at the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday.
The Packers would appear covered at the tight end position after promoting fellow tight end Jake Stoneburner to the 53-man roster on Tuesday when room was made by placing Randall Cobb and Greg Van Roten on injured reserve.
Currently, the Packers have five tight ends on their roster.
The loss of Taylor will be felt more than anywhere else on special teams, especially in light of his blocked punt in Week 6.
