Packers Sign 9 To Futures Contracts

The Packers have signed offensive lineman Chris Campbell to a three year contract and kept all their practice squad players in the fold.

From our friends Brian McIntyre and Adam Caplan comes word of the Packers re-signing their practice squad players.

From McIntyre:

Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com reported on Tuesday night that offensive lineman Chris Campbell was re-signed to a three-year contract, but a league source has confirmed that eight other practice squad players are also being brought back for 2011.

Re-upping with the Packers were wide receivers Antonio Robinson and Chastin West, guard Adrian Battles, defensive linemen Curtis Young and Jay Ross, linebacker Cardia Jackson, and defensive backs Michael Greco and Anthony Levine.

Alright, let's start the new season! Looks like we'll get a chance to repeat, so hopefully all the players will be in tune.

Just hoping we can solve the injury probem.

Sure will be nice to hear Super Bowl Champions, Green Bay Packers, when they are announced on TV! Plus I should be able to see more games.

BTW, great job on the site!

Should we keep James Jones? That drop in the Superbowl was the last straw for me. He didn't even have to stretch out his arms!

Keep him but force him to remain in Green Bay with Harrell or Flynn and catch 500 balls per day. And put Jordy and Jennings in the mix there too, they've had way too many drops as well.

Seriously though, I agree with the frustration on Jones but I think he's just too talented to let go, unless they pick another good WR in the draft that can become a long-term player. Driver has maybe one or two good (but not great) years left, and maybe none. Jennings is locked up, and Jordy has what, two more years? As good as their WR corps has been, there is room for improvement in that group as much as any other (except maybe special teams). However, I wouldn't break the bank for JJ, if someone else wants to overpay then so long, thanks for your services.

Jones' would-be-touchdown drops are the most maddening, but Norman is right -- this entire receiving corps has been dropping balls for the last two years. Driver, Nelson, Jones and even Jennings have had ugly drops. You have to believe this is something they will focus on in the off-season, but we were saying the same thing last summer.

The thing I notice about Jones' drops is that he cannot catch a ball cleanly when running down field. If he's facing Rodgers, he perfectly hand-catches the point of the ball. But with his back and palms turned, he juggles the ball almost every damn time, even the ones he catches he is tipping to himself. Go back and look at some of his 'redemption' catches over the past season, most of them he bobbles before catching. I don't know why it's so hard for him, but the dude just needs to learn how to hand catch over the shoulder type passes.

He has been frustrating enough that I call for him to be cut every time he drops a touchdown, but in reality I'll take the depth of James Jones as a #3-4 receiver any season. With Jermichael back next year he won't matter as much anyway.

jones will be here next year. if they kept guys like jarrett bush (who is now a special teams beast) and justin harrell (who is a complete bust) around for this long, jones will be here too. the frustrating thing is that the guy drops easy passes and catches the tough ones. hopefully he can figure it out in the offseason.

A. Peterson fumbled 7 times in season 2009 & watched a few games at the end because of it ......

He fumbled once in season 2010 with few adjustments ..... I'm sure JJ & company will also be making off-season adjustments .......

It'd be a mistake to think a draft pick will be able to replace any WR on GB's roster .......

Mr. Jones is 26 ya all, and has made huge catches. Got to find something else to worry about....like the fact that Mike McCarthy has never won a Pro Bowl.

Hopefully this kick starts negotiation for the free agents on the team. I would like to see them keep JJ. He just needs to get his head on strait and learn to concentrate. My draft hopes would be a speedster receiver that can return kicks for special teams and eventually be Drivers replacement. Having a 4th wide receiver that can't return kicks is such a waist to me.

yes, we definitely need a kickoff/punt returner badly. i had some questions about other parts of the team too.

what is going to happen with the O-line: is bulaga the right or left tackle of the future? is clifton returning next season and, if so, at what capacity? is colledge going to be resigned and, if not, is tj lang his replacement?

will our starting safeties be collins and burnett? charlie peprah had a good season and proved his worth to the team. i would love to see him back on the team.

who will be our starting linebackers? we know matthews and (probably) bishop will be starting since he was signed to a new contract and had an amazing season. i think hawk played his ass off and deserves to be resigned (after a restructuring of his contract). so who's the other starting OLB and which linebackers will be cut?

inquiring minds want to know!
