Packers Rule Out Clay Matthews vs. Detroit

The Green Bay Packers have ruled out outside linebacker Clay Matthews for their Week 11 matchup with the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Matthews hurt his hamstring during the Packers’ 31-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals before the bye week. McCarthy originally gave Matthews a timeline of a “couple of weeks,” and this week would represent the second in that process.
McCarthy wouldn’t speculate on Matthews’ availability for next week against the New York Giants.
Undrafted rookie Dezman Moses is expected to start opposite Erik Walden Sunday in Detroit. McCarthy said his team has prepared all week to play without Matthews.
Given that’s now a reality, defensive coordinator Dom Capers may have to get creative to generate pressure against the NFL’s No. 1 passing offense (307.3 yards/game).

Exactly – the NFL doesn’t require style points like the BCS. Whether the Packers win this game by 1 or 31, it won’t matter. I think our best defense this week may be the offense shouldering the load and getting TOP in the 37+ min range. Everyone focuses only on our defensive issues for this game – has anybody seen what Detroit’s defense looks like this season?? The only reason they don’t give up more pass yardage is teams get up on them early and then bleed the clock with a 2 TD+ lead. Another 6 TDs for Rodgers?
Oh boy. They did not look good when Matthews went out. Offensive duel time. Where’s Jordy?
Jordy practiced. He sounds good to go.
Even without pressure from Matthews or consistent pressure from the front the Packer’s back seven will get 2-5 opportunities from Stafford. You do every game. He’s young enough and overly confident in his arm. Can they capitalize? That’s the equalizer. The kid is talented, but he’s still reckless in streaks.
Yup…exactly what the D needs to do. The guy bracketing Johnson with Williams should be ready for an overthrow – that’s where Stafford gets into trouble.
I always begin paying more attention when Stafford starts throwing some sidearm passes. Bad things usually happen shortly thereafter for him.
That said, think I’m definitely taking the OVER this week with #52 out.
Still haven’t heard what’s up with Neal. Same ankle injury as last week?

I’d be surprised if this game didn’t end-up being a shoot-out. Stafford has no problem tossing it up and LeShoure’s starting to look good. Plus they’re playing indoors. Detroit needs to attack this game with playoff intensity, else little hope for their season
But as many have posted, the Pack has plenty of firepower themselves. This could be like some of the games last year, where the D gave up a lot of yards but came through a few more TO’s than the opponent and the Packers offense put up big numbers.
Could be one of the more entertaining games of the year, especially if the Pack win.

Enjoy your turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, then the exile is over. Oh, and repent for (I believe) predicting the Packers would be 5-6 after this weekend.
Rodgers is playing in a dome, that’s all I need to know.
For me, this is the game. If the Pack lose, it opens the door for the Vikes and Lions both to be in the run for that wild card spot. If the Pack wins it opens the door to claim the NFC North.
My concern like others, when do all these key injuries start to take there toll on play? Is it this week? If the Pack can defeat the Lions with all the injuries they have, wow.
