Packers Reportedly Sign RB Michael Hill, Who Was Arrested in the Offseason
Now on his second go-around in Green Bay, Hill was arrested in January on two counts of disorderly conduct.
The Green Bay Packers have reportedly agreed to terms with running back Michael Hill, who was arrested in January on two charges of disorderly conduct after his season had ended, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Hill was previously a member of the Packers early in the 2013 season when Eddie Lacy, John Kuhn and James Starks were all injured. He played in two games for the Packers in Weeks 4 and 5, playing exclusively on special teams, returning one kickoff for 19 yards. He was on the practice squad the first three weeks of the season.
When Lacy, Kuhn and Starks all returned to health, there wasn't room for Hill. He was let go and re-signed to the practice squad until the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offered a spot on their 53-man roster.
Hill played sparingly for the Bucs, carrying the football nine times for 23 yards and catching two passes for 23 years on the season.
After the season and after his arrest, the Buccaneers waived Hill on Feb. 10 along with Jordan Rodgers––the brother of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers––and two other players. Hill went unclaimed.
Hill was arrested for resisting arrest and failure to obey a lawful order, per a report, stemming from a disturbance at a local bar in St. Joseph, Mo., near where he played his college football at Missouri Western State University. He was released on a $500 bond
The Packers have not confirmed Hill's signing, and he did not appear on Tuesday's transaction wire.
With the Packers, Hill will prospectively join a backfield that includes Lacy, Johnathan Franklin, DuJuan Harris and Orwin Smith as players under contract. Meanwhile, Kuhn, Starks and Khalil Bell are all scheduled to become free agents in March.

We got Harris and Franklin, Starks would be little more than a contingency plan, even with last year's success.

Someone on PFT said that Michael Hill has the best hands of any RB in the league and better than most WR. Obviously taken with a large pile of salt but does anyone know of any scouting reports that refer to him having superior catching skills? Could be a weapon on 3rd down.

He must have shown well in his short time in Green Bay to be brought back and they must feel comfortable enough with his character level based on knowing about his arrest. This position group is a total opposite of this time last year when people were down about Jackson going to Atlanta and the few (but encouraging) carries Harris had and wondering if Ted would draft a RB high. In addition Starks was being written off by everyone, most thought he would be cut. Today we have an outstanding group of backs and they just added another young talent already exposed to their system. Watching Lacy and Starks last year was like watching Csonka & Morris on the Dolphins undefeated team.
