Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was one of five nominees named on Friday for the NFL's Rookie of the Year Award.

Joining Lacy are Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen, Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard and Buffalo Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso.

The winner will be announced in New York City at the “3rd Annual NFL Honors” awards show, a two-hour primetime special to air nationally on February 1 on Fox the night before Super Bowl XLVIII.

Lacy helped lead the Packers to their third straight division title and fifth consecutive postseason appearance. He finished the season with 284 carries for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns setting franchise rookie records in all three categories.

Fans can vote on the winner at the NFL's official website.

Also named 2nd team All-Pro, which to be honest I was a bit surprised he got it over Forte, but I ain't gonna argue.

Is the winner based off the fans vote?

Correct, this is the official NFL Award. Other outlets give their own awards.

Stroh, on my ancient IPod I was able to click on the banner at the top from the link and vote fairly easily, got five in like MarkInMadison (love the vote early, vote often saying). You don't have to play the video to vote. It even gives you an option to vote again.

That being said, I don't go to NFL.com very often, finding it to be an excrutiately slow to load site, even on a regular computer. Unfortunately, packers.com is the same. Perhaps my connection is just slow, would be interested to see if others have similar problems.
