Packers Question of the day - Was Jordy Nelson Snubbed?

In case you guys didn't get a chance to see the 2017 Pro Bowl rosters, you can do so here.

Aaron Rodgers, T.J. Lang and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix represent the Packers this year, and it's well-deserved that they do so.

However, lacking an appearance is Jordy Nelson, Aaron Ripkowski, David Bakhtiari and several other deserving players. However, Ripkowski and Nelson were both named as alternates in case a starting player for the NFC isn't able to play.

Coming off of an ACL injury and likely to win Comeback Player of the Year with his performance this season, was Nelson snubbed from a Pro Bowl selection?

'Packers Question of the day - Was Jordy Nelson Snubbed?'

YES!

Nelson is currently 8th in receiving yards, tied for 7th in receptions and 1st in TD's.

That should be enough to earn him a Pro Bowl.

Who do you leave off? OBJ, Evans and Juio are deserving, as well. Larry Fitzgerald is having a bit of a down year (thanks to the collapse of Carson Palmer), but his is a "lifetime achievement award" kind of recognition that's hard to beat. He'd be the one, you'd think.

Just based on stats. Fitzgerald.

He has 98 catches for 949 yards and 5 TD's.
He ranks 1st in catches, 17th in yards, and tied for 26th in TD's

Comparing that to Nelson who has 82 catches for 1037 yards and 12 TD's.
Nelson ranks tied for 7th in receptions, 8th in yards, and 1st in TD's.

I get that they want to give Fitzgerald the respect award. But based on this season which is what the award is supposed to be. Nelson has had a better season.

Any one of them considering Nelson the league leader in TD receptions... it's just a popularity contest anyways, I'd rather see the pro bowl be selected by sports writers who would be more objective. Should be called the Popularity Bowl

Tough to crack that receiver group.
I don't want him playing in that game anyway.

It seems at least 30% of the Players who are named to the list sit out anyways. Hopefully Jordy says thanks but NO Thanks.

Right there with you, why even chance a injury in a game that's not even watchable in the 1st place.

I agree Dobber. Nelson hasn't put together an entire season but he'll be in again next year.

No. I think Nelson probably is just about right at 1st alternate. He also has offered very little YAC, nor great YPA as an outside guy this year. We'll see next year if that bounces back 2 years post ACL.

Disagree. Football Outsiders has Nelson ranked 5th in DYAR among all WRs with 50 or more catches. He leads all WRs in TDs.

1st alternate is 5th, is it not? What is your point?

It's a stupid exhibition game. Who cares. The next 2 weeks is all that matters not a meaningless popularity contest.

For me its not about the game. Its more about being voted into it.

The game is meaningless to be honest.

Personally I think the bigger snub is Bakhtiari.

Yeah.

The Probowl seams to be about what you did the year before. Nelson was on IR and Bahk wasn't healthy.

The Writers can make it all better by making Bahk an All-Pro. The only guy in the NFC who has played better is Trent Williams but he got suspended 4 games for a Substance Abuse (Not PEDs, that's different). I think Bahk for sure deserves 2nd Team All-Pro.

I hope that Jordy does feel snubbed. Just to give him some additional motivation for the next 2 weeks and hopefully into the post season to prove on nationally televised games that he deserves to be selected as an All-Pro rather than as an alternate. I also agree that Bakhtiari should have been selected as well. As for the game itself, it serves no purpose and should be eliminated. Just have a ceremony for the players, give them their awards and their bonuses if applicable and forget the game. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

Every year there are snubs. If just votes during the past five weeks are considered Jordy would be in. In my opinion, Matthew Stafford was the one player to wrongly leave off the pro bowl voting if the entire season is properly evaluated.

Don't really care who makes it and who doesn't. Only item of interest was that Hayward made it, which hopefully means a better comp pick!

Pro bowl? Who cares? If all goes as planned there will not be a packer in the pro bowl anyway.
