Packers Question of the day - Expectations for Sunday

Let's hope this isn't the final in-season addition of "Question of the day."

The Packers will once again meet the Cowboys in the playoffs on Sunday, but for some reason, the stakes seem higher this time around.

It could be because they're riding a seven-game win streak and are viewed as heavy underdogs in Dallas - especially without Jordy Nelson.

What are your expectations for Sunday? Will the Packers earn a berth in the NFC Conference Championship round and find a way to contain league rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott? Or will the season come to an end at the same stadium Aaron Rodgers hoisted the Vince Lombardi trophy at six years ago?

Packers win - packers win - AR continues his lights out play - Defense stuffs the run and the "hot" team continues on because of great ball security and a receiver core that blocks for each other on the way into the end zone!!!:^)

I expect Capers to have his players cemented in their gaps on runs or looking like they don't know what a gap is or where to be found.
Elliott gets either 80 or 140 rushing.
Packers get a win...that is all.

Packers find they can run the ball with Michael. Allison and Cobb move the chains and Cook is open deep down the middle for big gains. Our OLine out does their OLIne as Prescott is harassed enough on third downs making them go 3 and out on a regular basis. Our DLine stuffs Elliott more than once and causes him to fumble the ball at a critical time. Pack win this by 13.

My expectation is that every Packers fan who comes to this site will go to Adam's Go-Fund-Me page and donate $5 to his kids for all the time that he gave us.

Best football game of the weekend between to good teams. Win or Lose... I think we sqeak out a win if MM gets Rodgers going early in the game and not waiting till halftime.

I fully expect the Packers to continue to play at a high level and win this game. Offense is clicking and will score enough points to win as defense plays just well enough. 34-30 Packers.

Now that Nelson has officially been ruled out.

I expect to see Cook playing his biggest role of the season. I think he will have his biggest game as a Green Bay Packer.

Don't be surprised if McCarthy comes up with a few new wrinkles in this game as well. Possibly putting Montgomery and Michael on the field together.

Also don't be surprised to see more of Janis in this game.

I think Monty wide and Michael in the backfield should be used quite often.

Put Ripkowski in there at fullback as well with the inverted wishbone.

Ed, that is an interesting suggestion - I really have not given any thought to Montgomery split wide. I do keep wondering why we don't see Rip offset with Monty behind him, 2 WRs split wide and Cook in-line at TE. That means no Cobb. This formation looks like a power running play with Rip as a lead blocker. However, depending on what the defense looks like, Monty could motion out and settle in at the slot or flanker, allowing us to send 4 receivers out with Rip in for pass pro (or send five receivers out if Rip leaks out as well), or keep Monty lined up deep and just run out of it. Have I missed this?

"Also don't be surprised to see more of Janis in this game."

Thats what I've been hoping for but have instead seen more of Geronimo Allison. Adams and Cobb primaries of course but I think spreading the ball around as well as varying personnel ; setting Cook out wide; keeping them guessing about Montgomery; 2TE sets (like Pats did with Gronk+Martellus Benett) could be among differing offensive looks Aaron could take advantage of.

Would be excited for surprise onside kick and/or surprise Hail Mary, too.

I expect a Packers victory! Stop the run as best as possible, defense get off the field and let Rodgers do the rest. No excuses, no let ups, no prisoners. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

Like most writers here I expect that for GB to win Rodgers must be hot early; I expect to see as mentioned above, 88 and 32 in the backfield together, don't be surprised to see passing early and if GB gets up by 14 a lot of power running with Kerridge Rip and Ty. If GB gets down 14 this game may be over. The Cowboys will try and keep 12 off the field. So pray for a big early lead and a very hot Arod!!! Be thankful for the past 7 weeks at 4-6 I was looking for a top 10 draft pick

The Cowboys peaked earlier in the season. They are still the team to beat in the NFC but that may be doable even in Dallas.

AR needs to stay on fire and on the field. If Dallas wins the TOP by running the ball and AR is watching from the sideline, GB may be in trouble.

Cook has a huge game in the Packer win. Packers stop the run and make DAk press. Realistically Dallas controls line of scrimmage and Rodgers isn't on the field enough to overcome the Dallas time of posession

Load the box, jump the short stuff, and make "Dink and Dunk" Dak beat you over the top. If he does and they hit some big plays, at least you get the ball back in AR's hands quickly.

I don't see how Dallas can fail to score quite a few points (say around 27) barring some turnovers. I think GB is likely to score as well. Cook has 125 yards, Adams 85, Cobb 65, and Allison chips in 45. Michael and Monty run for just under 100 yards.

GB 38 - Dallas 27.

I think GB slows down Zeke not stop him I think I may get a TD but I think Ty plays outta his mind he did play very well in the first meeting. GB won the TOP battle but didn't score plus a fumble on the 1 yard line which would've swung the momentum doesn't help. I see Cook coming up huge and Adams playing lights out Jordy went out with alot of the game left so they're fine without him. And special teams will be huge in this game also which was over looked last week you can have a good O-Line but starting deep in your own territory wont help either. Go up 7 on first possession and play they're game against them.

Oh and to add to my point Dez will want the ball to avenge the 2014 game so look for Dallas to try an get him involved early too but with that forcing things up like that can cost them turnovers. Also giving Dak false looks he's a mechanical QB who does the right thing but he isn't like Big Ben and Rodgers able to make plays when things break down. Plus Julius Peppers played good in the first meeting and Clay is healthy and Tyrone Smith had an MCL sprain too

Clay might not be so healthy. We know he has a shoulder separation and needs surgery after the season; we just don't know how much this injury limits/bothers him.

Experience pays off , many Packers were part of the awful loses the past few seasons, I think that comes into play against an unproven Cowboys team , I think the Cowboys play sloppy and fall behind and never catch up ,

Underdogs? Have you turned on a tv this week? All I keep seing is how on fire AR is and how the Cowboys season will be a failure if they lose. On paper we might be the Underdogs, but I don't think the media thinks so. I expect.....a barn burner. 31 28 PACK! CROSBY FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!

In the first game the Packers had 4 turnovers. You're not going to win most any game with 4 turnovers.

This time they hold on to the damn ball and score. Dallas will run and have a lot of yards but the Packers score more and win.

Need to keep AR & company on the field as much as we can. That is so key. I see a close game, possibly an OT game. Packers win a thriller in Dallas. Go Pack!!! Aloha.

My expectations at the start of the year were a lights out unstoppable offense. Right now the offense is living up to my expectations. MM will have a few new tricks up his sleeve and do enough for a Packers win.

Cow will be wrong once again, (p.s. keep bringing it ,you are are good luck charm)

Packers play game of the season and shock everyone, and to a lesser degree us faithful true fans.

Sunday night ends without a peep from Cow on First Impressions, Good, Bad and Ugly as well as Game Balls and Lame Calls, although Cow will be the focus of the latter.
