Packers Question of the day - Expectations for Sunday

The Packers will have a chance to even up the all-time series between them and their dreaded rival Chicago Bears at 94 games apiece.

In below-freezing temperatures in a must-win game, what can we expect from the Packers in week 15?

An extremely tight game decided in the last 4 minutes. I see a score of 17-14 or even 13-10....

Probably depends on the level of emotion the Packers bring to the game. If they play at the level displayed against Seattle I don't see the Bears hanging with them for very long. Given the cold weather I see 27-10 Packers.

I expect this to be a tough game. Hard fought.

If Rodgers was healthy. i think they would win fairly easily. But with his injury I think this will be a tougher game.

I expect the game to be won in the trenches again. If the Packers OL opens up some holes in the running game and can keep Rodgers clean, I think they win. If the DL stuffs the Bears run game I think they win.

I expect victory! Play with a lead and stuff the Bears ground game. Control the clock, keep Rodgers clean, no turnovers and get out of there with the Win. I expect a low scoring game dominated by defense and difficult weather conditions. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

I'm afraid of Cow's pre-season prediction that Ty Montgomery would never play another snap for the Green Bay Packers because he was sooooo injured.

Wait, no I'm not.

I expect a lot of Howard. Barkely will turn it over and Gunter will do well vs Jeffrey with the help of pressure up front. The cold and tight ligaments do not mix! I hope Arodge comes out of the game no worse than when he goes into it. If they weren't so desperate to keep pace with the lions this would have been a good opportunity for Arodge to get healthy and Hudley to get snaps. Unfortunately they have to risk it all due to their November ineptitude. 24-13 PAck

Posted this in another thread, but I would not be surprised to see Hundley come in on a few series to keep Arod fresh. The Packers have a few offensive packages that would play well to an option quarterback, and MM has been adding a new look or 2 every game they can build off of.

I expect to see Christine Michael and Ty Montgomery to get more snaps as a 1-2 punch....especially since Bears NT Eddie Goldman may miss the game with an ankle injury. I anticipate Rodgers getting rid of the ball quickly.

I also expect the Packers WRs to have their way and get open a lot. Bears have 4 CBs on their injury report -- Packers must exploit that. Besides, they are playing much better than the last time these 2 teams met, especially Davante Adams. I'd like to see Jared Cook make a big splash as well.

I'll expect some deep shots to Alshon Jeffrey. I expect Ladarius Gunter to cover a big WR like Jeffrey. A heavy dose of Jordan Howard is likely, so I hope the defensive line dominates the line of scrimmage.

It'll be interesting to see Josh Sitton vs. his old teammates. Packers won't have any problem getting pumped for a rivalry game like this. Packers 27, Bears 14.

Michael did not practice on Thursday. Not a good thing for a guy who, to be charitable, is still learning the system.

I'd like to see Hundley get at least a 12 plays in.

Crap. Montgomery was listed as limited too. I hope his sickle cell trait doesn't actually up in the cold.

Hate to say it, but I don't think ARod finishes the game, even if it's close. He'll start but it seems his lower leg injuries will be an issue with him this game, this season and year-after-year in the future.

If you've noticed they past few times he's had these lower leg issues it seems to come on fairly innocuous plays. Sometimes there's minor contact, sometimes none at all - he's just running or throwing a pass .

He'll be playing on a crappy surface in subfreezing temperatures. From what Rodgers has said himself - his leg is distorted from what it used to be.

Unless there's some kind of long lasting treatment (surgery perhaps) for his kind of injury, I see him playing basically injury free for periods of time then seemingly out of nowhere reinjuring his calf or hammy like some other star Packer we know (Mr CM3).

He should get significant snaps against Chicago, but will end up hobbling so bad they have to pull him before he pulls something totally out of whack.

Still, outside of fluky plays, I don't see the Bears scoring that much. The Pack should key on the run this game (i.e. a lot of Jake Ryan) as I believe the Bears will try to grind it out mostly on the ground.

Even with a hobbled ARod, GB should score enough to win.

I don't think there is a surgery for pulled hamstrings or strained calf muscles. Steroids would help the muscles heal faster but I doubt it would have any impact on the hammy. They just have to keep it loose and hope for the best. This kind of reminds me of a few years ago in Seattle, when #12 went gimping into the playoffs and you could see how it limited his game. Someone else here got ripped for suggesting that Rodgers skip this game with the playoffs on the line. I don't know that sitting him this week would really help him make a full recovery, but I understand the sentiment behind the comment.

"Get away sticks"

That's awesome lol

He plays well when his mobility is limited. If he gets the ball out fast and O line does its job he'll be fine

Here's the latest from the National Weather Service for Chicago at game time:

"Patchy blowing snow before noon. Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 1. Wind chill values as low as -25. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph."

Can't pick a winner in these conditions. -- Anyone need a valid reason for indoor stadiums and football???

I think Packer will "run the table", but this, next game will be the hardest one to win. It will be last snap victory as so many times before...
