Packers Question of the day - Expectations for Sunday

In what has proven to be a pivotal match-up, hence why it's America's Game of the Week, the Packers' playoff lives will essentially be on the line against the Seahawks this Sunday.

It'll be the seventh time in the last 10 years that the Seahawks and Packers face off in the regular season, and just the third time since 2009 that the game is being played at Lambeau Field.

What're your expectations for what may be the make-or-break game for the Packers in 2016?

Actually I think we have at least a 50/50 chance of winning this game. The Hawks haven't been that great on the road and Rodgers seems to have found a nice groove. Our defense has some holes but The Hawks offense hasn't been that dominating to where they may not be able to exploit the weaknesses anyhow. If Rodgers & Co can bring their A-game I see us winning this one.

I looked at Seattle's home/road splits and they're pretty telling: they give up about 16 points per game regardless of where they play, but they average almost 12 points per game more at home than they do on the road. When you look at their road wins, they appear to be about winning the turnover battle...that includes a win at New England. In most of those games, the opponent had some semblance of a credible run game, too.

So I'll say this: if the Packers win the TO battle and have a somewhat productive run game, I think that will go a long way toward them winning on Sunday.

I would say it isn't necessarily having a run game but having a ball controlled offense. The extension of the run game with the short passes, swing passes, and whatnot virtually accomplish the same thing.

When the Packers have been at its best, its been taking long drives. Keeping the offense on the field, converting 3rd downs, and keeping the defense off the field. Whether they accomplish that by running the ball or short passes, it keeps the ball in their hands.

I expect a loss. Their scores against the Cards (6) and more recently the Bucs (5) do give me some hope. So, while I EXPECT a loss, there is some hope for a better result.

I expect this to be a good tough game.

If the Packers can get out to an early lead like Tampa did I think they have a better chance of winning.

I'm really interested in seeing what Seattle's defense looks like without Thomas. We saw the affect it had on Green Bays defense when it lost Collins. Thomas is to Seattle's Defense what Collins was to Green Bays. Its very hard to replace those guys.

its funny how when they lost 4 games you were saying how they had a realistic chance at the playoffs. And since they have won 2 games in a row (which you predicted), now your saying the playoffs whats the point...

Truly entertaining Cow...

Unfortunately, you may be correct. ----- This team has some major holes that TT has failed to patch (once again). -- Little depth and too many "kids" playing too many snaps. -- It's called the "same 'ol $hit".

As usual I expect a Packer victory.
Hopefully, start fast, play with a lead, keep Seattle's offense off the field, force a turnover or two, get Michael and RIP more involved in the run game and chew up the clock. With the injury to Thomas maybe we can make some plays to Cook and Monty up the middle of the field. On defense be ready to hold the edge against the read option and jet sweeps. This game must be played like a n elimination game because it basically is. A win keeps us in both the division and wild card races. A loss probably knocks us out of both. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

I expect a barn burner. One of those classic snowy Lambeau games. Do I expect a victory...not really especially now without Perry. No pass rush is gonna kill this team with our week CBs,but I do expect a good game. Gpg.

Offense produces just enough to win but Bevel has Dom's unit on skates all day and big stops in key times wont come, per usual. 24-20 bad guys

Need to play the game of their lives. Hell anything is possible. Didn't think they could in 2014 either and they did for almost a half. This time if they get a lead they need to floor it, no half measures, no conservative prevent crap. Pedal to the metal all the way. And how about some takeaways.

I don't know how to pick this game , if the Packers were healthy I would absolutely pick them , but I do have a gut feeling the weather will slow down the Seahawks . But I can't pick against my team so I say 24 to 20 Pack!

The Seahawks really don't have much pressure. They are in a race with the Lions for the #2 seed. If the Lions lose against the Bears (unlikely), then I think Seattle probably dials it down a bit.

The Lions have a brutal final three games, and the Seahawks have the Cards, Niners, and Rams, so I doubt Seattle's going to feel much stress.

Eddie Lacy still leads the Packers in rushing yards this season. He hasn't played since, what, week 3? I know you don't HAVE to throw the ball to be successful but boy, if Michael is not ready with a substantial number of plays this weekend it could be a long game.

LBs are ravaged. Banged up CBs could easily re-injure themselves in the snow. Not much to like there. If the Seattle offense wasn't so anemic I'd say game over.

SEA by 6.

I'm looking at a Packer win if we can pressure Wilson. Keeping Wilson at bay and creating turnovers will be the keys to winning this game. Packers 24- Seahawks 20.

The good= The bears still suck
The bad= We lose and the season is over
The ugly= Well, at least we can still beat the bears

Looks like several inches of the white stuff before and during the game. --- That really makes it difficult to project a winner. --- GB needs breaks to go their way in this one or it may not even be close. --- Seattle's run game may surpass 200 yards. -- The SeaHawks have more play makers than GB on both sides of the ball. Seattle 27 GB 13.

Hmmmm. I think the Packers actually have more playmakers on offense. Seattle definitely has more playmakers on defense even without Thomas. I'm hoping the weather and home field may even this one up to where the Packers flaws on defense may not be so exposed and Rodgers & Co on offense can keep it close enough to win.

I believe the Packers have FINALLY arrived at the proper state of mind. Ever since winning the last SB, they seem to have played with a sense of entitlement. Almost like all they had to do was show up to win.

Now, I see a hunger back. A sense of having to prove it all over again, every single play. All levels have seemed to have made adjustments from the normal, taking chances, being creative, having serious attitude.

Case in point - Randall Cobb. A few games ago, he had a couple catches where he just refused to go down and he just flat out bulled his way through tackles. It showed up again during his punt returns last week. You could taste the attitude change. Instead of being the deer in the headlights, he was the bull in the china shop, and this attitude seems to have infused the whole team. They are playing aggressively now, not passively and it's showing.

I see this attitude coming together with returning players to form a dangerous Pack today. Even with injuries to players who will be on the field, I see glimpses of the hunter mentality, not the hunted.

So today, my call is Packers put together their best game of the year in an all out brawl, and out tough SEA for a statement win. Weather will make the score hard to predict but I think maybe 17 - 10, 17-13ish
