Packers Question of the day - Expectations for Sunday

The Packers will travel to Tennesee to kick off the second half of their season on Sunday.

The first-ranked run defense will be up against a ground game that is one of the best in the league. Between Marcus Mariota, DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, there isn't much to be overlooked on that roster.

What are your expectations, and which players will you be watching on gameday?

I expect two of those mentioned 3 to sit out of the game or at least one to sit out and another to play injured!
After the game I wish them speedy recovery!

'Expectations for Sunday'

After I went into last week against the Colts expecting to see them Destroy the Colts and blow them out, and saw almost the opposite, I no longer am expecting anything.

Against the Falcons we saw the young guys step up big and play big roles. I expected that to continue. Then the Colts game comes and I see Allison get 7 snaps, Davis 5 snaps in the game.

I hope to see the Packers do more of what they did against the Bears and Falcons. Spread the defense out with 4 and 5 WR sets. Get the ball out fast. Get the quick timing and rhythm back. Hopefully the Colts game was a showcase of what they shouldn't do and will be the turning point of the season.

I expect another Tale of Two Teams as like all its other game stories, though hopefully the better part comes last and affords reason to cheer than more reason to find excuse.

I think most of us have stopped with the "Excuses". I mean Injuries are only part of the reason for the Packers demise, but the issues on Offense is ALL McCarthy. If the Packers had for example Josh Daniels as a HC, this team, as constructed now would be probably 6-2, maybe 7-1. Afterall it took 4 TO's to lose to the Vikings in the most important home game the Vikings have had in YEARS. Daniels for example will design a game plan against what a defense doesn't do well and attack it. Clearly it works, the Patriots have done more with less for years and years, especially with Daniels.. McCarthy on the other hand will continue to use the same plays teams are clearly waiting for and then blame it on execution.

Thompson must also be questioned. Going into the season with the RB situation the way it was. Letting Hayward go has proved to be a huge mistake, especially for $5 Million a season. Hell the Chargers are getting one of the better deals in the league this year at only $5 million for Casey. Tied for the lead with 5 interceptions, number one in the NFL with 17 passes defensed, and tied for 7th among CB with 41 tackles, 36 unassisted. Oops, there goes the hayward can't tackle excuse for Ted. BTW..Hayward tackled well for the Packers the last 2 seasons he played in GB too.

Right on NP.

Until I see this team start to execute on a regular basis, I'll continue to expect listless loss after listless loss.

The rest of this year is either going to get markedly better, or the team won't make the playoffs. And if they don't, it's time to blow it up.

I've never wanted the Packers to lose and don't this year either. But this isn't a SB team and another season of Mike McCarthy and to a lesser degree (Not much less) Ted Thompson will be just another wasted season. MM and TT aren't going to change, even when a change is necessary slaps them in the face every Sunday, at least the last year and a half of Sundays.

There is talent is on this team. I have to believe coaching or lack there of is the issue. Throw in the relationship of Arron and MM and this is what we get a roller coaster. It is time for a change and not at quarterback. Not many coaches last 10 years in fact I can only think of one. Time is up, the same old song dance is sour.

I'm not sure what to expect but what we need is a sense of urgency and a take no prisoners attitude. I know that we still have 8 games left but this is just about a must win for the Packers as will every game going forward until we earn a playoff spot. As for now we just need to win this Sunday's game and the Packers need to play with intensity. I'll be watching A. Rodgers, D. Adams and Monty on offense. Also, Davis and Allison if they get a chance to play. On defense I'll be watching Daniels. Perry, Dix and Gunther. The first three because they are veteran players who need to lead and make plays. Gunther to see if he recovers from being eaten alive by Luck and the Colts' receivers. On both offense and defense it's time for our alleged team leaders to step up and make plays. Let's see if MM and DC have prepared them accordingly. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

LOL. Wish I could give more thumbs up than just the one. Yes, I expect to win one half handily and one half badly. Only issue is what is the net?

I don't know what to expect anymore. Matthews is ruled out (though it probably wouldn't matter anyway). Cook will probably be a game time decision. MM says he has to have a good practice Saturday to play. Weather is supposed to be good. Upper 60's. Questions for me is, are the Packers feeling that this is a must win and pull out all the stops, be more physical and mentally focused? Or will Tennessee be higher than a kite because the Packers are coming to town, and play their best game in years? I just want a Packers win, as we all do.

Aaron Rodgers says "This is NOT a must win game." I heard him say it today on 1250am.

Rodgers is playing the worst football of his career. I see tenn. blowing out the packers. The pressure of every catch eats them up. The defense still minus mathews doesn't have a prayer. More people will call for MMs head after this game. But the truth is they just don't have the game breakers they once had. Slow has replaced speed. There is no Threat. Drop Balls will piss off A-rod into submission. Instead of calling for MMs head I will be calling for A-rods.

MM isn't going anywhere unless his stale ass retires. He could keep the team swirling down the toilet bowl for a couple more years if he wanted to. There is no accountability. All that matters is the bottom dollar.

This is a must win for the Pack. This is the season. The wheels fall off if they lose to the Titans.
Here how the pack wins.

Mike coaches the game of his life.
The fat ass lazy pass rushers like Perry and Datone can muster something.
Mathews shows up to earn some of that huge salary.
The linebackers can finally cover the middle.
Our pass d actually learns overnight to defend passes and cover people.

Good luck with that

Matthews is out again which opens the door for another Claude Raines invisible man performance by the beastly, high dollar deserving Nick Perry. Though being a true, realistic Packer fan, I will yet again hope along his strong following of denial - ist he shows up to garner their applause, thus renewing the vigorous campaign to retain him for more invisible encode performances.

I would like to see this team play with some desperation and urgency and a Big Chip on their shoulder.I wouldn't be surprised if they lose this game especially after falling apart against the Colts at Lambeau last week but I expect them to at least show some passion, energy and most of all Packer Pride. Mike McCarthy and his coach's have to get these boy's motivated and play Four Good Quarters of football!

You had me at "Hire McDaniels", even though it was at the END of the comment.

If the Packers could get Perry signed to a reasonable contract my hope is Elliot Wolf would sign him. The same for Hyde and possibly Lang but not at the expense of Tretter. Everybody else...See Ya!

If an Offensive mind like McDaniels was to come to Green Bay, Rodgers would be back to 45 TD's, 5 Int's, 4500 yards in no time. To compare Rodgers and Cutler is well, CRAZY. BUT you're right about that look on his face during the Colts game, it was the look of reality kicking in about this Football team. With a coach like McDaniels I believe Adams, Cobb and Montgomery would all have close to 80 catches and I'd bet my last dollar the FIRST thing he'd do is get a figgen TE.

The catch to getting a guy like McDaniels would be to get rid of Thompson. If I was a "Hot Commodity" to become an NFL HC, I wouldn't want to go somewhere with a GM that refuses to improve his team like the other 31. The truth is out, Rodgers made them ALL look better. He just can't do it himself anymore.

Hyde and Lang are gone at the end of the season. Tretter is staying unless he gets big money thrown at him. McDaniels would be OK by me. But don't count on it. MM will be back!

I see Mariola passing for 367 yards 3 Tds, as AROD continues to make every opposing quarterback look like a future Hall of Famer. I see Rush 3 yards pass 4 yards and on 3rd + 3 he throws a bomb into triple coverage. Punt time. Feel free to flip flop the first two downs.

From MM

"The most important thing is Sunday, is to beat Tennessee. The way they work, just the way they prepare, what they put out there on the field each and every week, the relationships and just the way they go about it. I love the culture, I like their mindset and we ultimately know it’s about winning. I really stay in touch with today. Yesterday’s important. You can learn a lot. But to get to tomorrow and the way you’re going to get there, you’ve got to stay in tune with the pulse and the energy and the personality and what’s going to make us successful.”

What they put out on the field each and every week? Is he kidding? As for this week I dont have a clue or any expectations whatsover, but if they lose and I have to hear this coach drivel again, my head is going to explode.
