Packers Question of the day - DuJuan Harris; yay or nay?

If the Packers do indeed move on from Christine Michael and choose not to bring him back to Green Bay on a renewed deal or Michael decides to test the waters of free agency, it's worth notting that former Packers running back and current San Francisco 49er has an expiring contract in March.

Yay or nay on bringing him back to Green Bay as a third running back in 2017?

Nay. His avg YPC has dropped every single year he has been in the NFL, and is down to 3.6 at this point. At 28, it is doubtful if his 4.44 speed is intact. He is done.

Pass, RB is one position that you want less wear and tear. Younger is better. If you want to move on from Michael then draft a RB. This draft is supposed to be very RB heavy!

Murphy has no plans of replacing TT. Maybe it's time for Murphy to be replaced? One sure way for TT. To go is Rodgers asking to be traded...the future for the Packers is looking dim...so sad..GO PACK

Nay.

The draft has a lot of talented RB's in it.
At this point Harris is probably not much better if not better at all then Don Jackson or Crockett.

And I think they will be able to find much better talent in the middle rounds of the draft.

Why? We need a CB's and OLB's, not a 28 year old "Small" RB. Maybe in week 7 we could have used him when we had Starks and Jackson but not now. There's going to be lots of RB like DuJuan Harris available to the Packers in about 90 days. Actually if Michael could learn the playbook and run North and South, not East and West I wouldn't mind seeing him in camp on a NFL minimum contract.

No, I rather keep Michael , Lacy on a 1 year and Monty is a pretty decent backfield.

I dont like any of them. If they keep Lacy it better be a dam good money deal for the team. Two years in a row he let the fans down by playing himself into an injury by being way to over weight. That is a dont care about football problem not and eating problem.
Monty is ok but is he a receiver or back? He doesnt even know that.

Jac -

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's kind of a ridiculous one.

Lacy was averaging 5.1 a carry before suffering an injury that could have happened just as easily if he were 220 lbs. 5.1 yards a run is pretty dang good. If he comes back it will no doubt be a team friendly deal with virtually no risk. I'm taking that bet 10/10 times.

Regarding Monty, he's been a damn effective RB, especially for being thrown into the fire midway through the season. McCarthy stated during the season that Monty is most definitely a RB. He stated after the season that Ty will get a new number and train this off-season as a back. It is well known at this point Ty Montgomery is a running back.

All that said, a Lacy/Monty tandem looks good to me.

The Lacy/Montgomery backfield looks really good to me as well.

I'd just add a mid round RB to the mix.

Lacy can take a hike. always hurt and way too fricking slow. always banged up due to his running style. take the comp pick and move on and draft a RB.

Always hurt ? Missed 2 games in his first 3 seasons. 3,500 yards to date, 29 TD's, 4.5 yards per carry, that is a franchise back in the NFL no matter how fast he is, how tall he is, or how much he weighs. In addition the guy never quits on a play, catches the ball better each year and does stick his nose in picking up the blitz. It's my bet had he not been told he could not play medically he would have lined up with that bad ankle the next week. Based on his age, availability up until 2016, and production I noted if you can get a performance laden deal, you would be crazy to MOVE ON FROM HIM.

I like that backfield too as long as Lacy comes back on a deal which is loaded with incentives and bonus money. The first bonus would be reporting to TC at 240 LBS. Lacy would be such an asset to this team at that weight, heck even Rodgers would like running the ball more.

No, pass. It's a young man's game, especially at RB. Didn't we give up on this guy for Crockett? Let's draft someone who can move the chains on 3rd or 4th and short yardage. No retreads, move on. Thanks, Since '61

Very often it is not on RB/FB to move chains on 3 and short, but on OL and additional blockers.... No RB can run through the wall...
If PAckers sign Lacy, we have that kind of RB. THat is all...
I liked Harris when he was playing Packers, but I, too, say pass the option. Or better to say it is not option. Good young RB is what Packers needs...
Also, there is few players worthy of bringing back in some situation - like Jones when Jordy was down...

I'm a bit baffled here. First, pass on Harris.

Baffling though is why everyone thinks OLB is such a position of need. Sign Perry and we have two 'solid' bookends with two pro. Using backups in Elliot and Fackrell. VILB seems to be more of a need for upgrade and depth.

To me, NT, outside of CB is our greatest need on D. We need someone to collapse the pocket and penetrate to keep teams from focusing on Clay and Perry on the edges. Fusion is serviceable but no game changer. Clark is growing nicely and I expect Lowry to make more of an impact next year too. It's the middle where we need to dominate. It would eliminate pressure elsewhere on D and would instantly make better players of the ones we already have.

Brian Price is waiting in the wings. Clark had a nice rookie season. Guion does the job.

Dont sleep on price. he's a powerful man inside.

1) There are a number of people (myself included) who do not think that CM3 can stay healthy at OLB.

2) There are a number of people who assume that Peppers will not return, or, if he does, that he is too old to produce consistently (I tend to agree).

3) There was a lack of pressure in Dallas and Atlanta.

4) See other comments for run-down on NT.

I'd rather TT have signed Harris than James Starks last year. I mean I'd rather the Packers offer Dujuan Harris the cash they decided to light on fire in a curbside garbage can.

I was curious as to why Seattle cut Micheal when he was supposedly their best back at the time.
Maybe its me but this guy doesnt seem like the brightest bulb on the tree. The whole is to the left and he runs right. He has a first down, backs up to avoid a tackle and loses the yardage. Ya they can cut this sucker. Cant tell me their isnt a 5th rounder who can do that. Draft is loaded with running backs in all rounds

It seems there is a typographical error in Zach's question. He wrote: "It's worth notting" [that D. Harris is available].

I think what he meant to say is, "It's NOT worth notting."
