Packers Practice Report: Datone Jones, James Starks Return

The Packers defensive lineman and running back took part in practice on Thursday after sitting out the day prior.

One day after sitting out the first practice of the week in Green Bay, Packers players James Starks and Datone Jones returned to action on Thursday, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Starks exited the recent game against the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday with an ankle injury and did not return.

Meanwhile Jones, who is also nursing an ankle injury, missed the past two games on the Packers' inactive list after being injured in the Week 5 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Jones also practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday Oct. 15, however, and suffered a setback in his recovery.

Returning to practice would be a step in the right direction for both players and even though nothing is official, they would appear to stand a better chance of playing in the upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints than they did just a day ago.

As for Sam Shields (knee) and Morgan Burnett (calf), apparently it didn't mean much that they were reportedly able to take part in the team's warmups on Wednesday.

There's still more than three days until the Saints game, however, and their status could still improve later in the week.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will have a further update at approximately 2:00 p.m. during his press conference.

Hard to think with a bye looming that any chances will be taken with.... I stop myself. I know nothing. The packers will do what's best.
