Packers Practice Report: Aaron Rodgers Predictably Absent

Two other players, however, were unpredictably absent: defensive lineman Josh Boyd and tight end Brandon Bostick.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was not present at practice on Wednesday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com:

Rodgers' absence did not come as a surprise in light of comments from head coach Mike McCarthy last Friday, saying that he didn't expect Rodgers to practice until Thursday as they continue to prepare for a divisional round playoff game with the Dallas Cowboys.

McCarthy said Rodgers was receiving treatment during practice last week.

Two of Rodgers' teammates, however, were surprisingly missing on Wednesday:

Neither Boyd nor Bostick were reported as missing this past weekend when the team practiced on both Friday and Saturday, leaving the reason for their absences in question.

Boyd became a part-time starter for the Packers this season, starting four of 15 games in 2014. Bostick's role has been primarily on special teams with occasional playing time on offense.

The Packers will release their first injury repor of the week on Wednesday afternoon, followed by a press conference with head coach Mike McCarthy, which should provide more information.

I'm not surprised or concerned about him missing practice. AR knows the plays, and is an awesome leader. His timing issues are a concern though. He must take reps to get on time with RC and DA (jordy and ar won't have issues). I hope to see him out there tomorrow.

Came here expecting a post to match Nagler's click-bait-so-hard overreaction tweet about McCarthy's innocuous coach-speak presser comments on Rodgers today.

But then I realized he probably wouldn't do that here, because he's knows we'd hold him accountable...so no surprise really.

More great Packers writing from Grantland, this one on the o-line: http://grantland.com/features/green-bay-packers-offensive-line-aaron-rod...

EDIT: Reading this, I end up feeling badly for Tretter. It goes into how close the o-line is and how much fun they have together and maybe Tretter is involved in all of that, but the story, obviously, focuses on the 5 starters.

I obviously don't have insight into the daily activities of all of the offensive lineman, but that quote from sitton about knowing linsley would be the starter would kinda tick me off if i were tretter. As a competitor, I know I would work my ass off in the upcoming off-season. Of course, I'm probably taking more from the quote than I should. Haha
