Janis played in the GLIAC. He played against Michigan Tech, my home town way way up North. He looked like a man among boys.

Miles White is as good as gone. There's about a zero chance that Miles White makes the 53 man roster.

No way Jordy doesn't retire a Packer.

Jordy loves Green Bay and Green Bay loves them some Jordy.

You see (the Pack drafting 2 WRs) as someone not getting resigned and I see it as the Pack wanting to go more 5-Wide this season.

1.Jordy
2.Cobb.
3.Adams
4.Boykin
5.Abbrederis/Janis/Bostick/White/Harper

"Jordy loves Green Bay and Green Bay loves them some Jordy."

You may very well be correct but this has little to do with Jordy's next & quite possibly his last chance for a final mega-contract in his career. He's only a little over a year away from 30 years old.

If TT low-balls him, he'll be following the money. All players do it.

GB doesn't/wouldn't low ball players like Jordy.

All he does is produce and be a leader.

Now,there's a difference in "low-balling" and only offering what you have. I believe the Pack will be stressed for cap space attempting to resign both Nelson + Cobb.

But I have no worries of losing Nelson due to GB "low balling" him.

Fine, don't use the word low-ball. However, "offering what you have" is only another way of saying GB is not managing their cap well enough to re-sign Jordy.

TT didn't draft 3 WRs just to keep one or two.

Sooooo,we're just going to act like the amount of money given to A-Rod and Clay was small???

Does liking your own post(s) make you feel some type of way?

You're right. ---The amount of money given to AR and Clay is not small. That's part of the problem. The cap will always be stressed as long as AR & Clay are under contract. Of course there's money left for others but there are 31 other teams when talking free-agency.

BTW, why would I post something if I didn't like it?

You're exactly right brutisk. Ted Thompson almost always drafts a player as leverage. Or a "just in case". Adams is leverage so he doesn't have to over pay Nelson. And he's there in case Nelson gets hurt.

He drafted Cobb in case he couldn't resign Jennings. Cobb was leverage.
He didn't have anyone as leverage when he signed Brad Jones...and had to over pay.

Of course the Packers want Nelson back. Nelson is probably the most under paid veteran WR in the NFL. I would imagine Nelson wants to stay, but he may get an offer that he can't refuse from some team like the raiders or chiefs. The chiefs would be my biggest worry. He might want to go back home. They love him in KC/Kansas too. He drove the NASCAR pace car last month there. He's still a local hero there.

Or they are trying to create a high level of competition at a position where solid depth is a necessity due to injury. The attrition rate for the WRs is pretty high. We haven't had the first mini camp yet. Our two WR draft picks (Johnson, Dorsey) didn't even make through the first mini camp last year. I think we'll have to see who is still standing at the end of TC.

Boykin is someone who I think can be beat out. I like the Abaderis pick, the guy is a worker I was glad to see him picked. Attitude and hard work are everything.
This kid from SVS can be a sleeper too.
I would love to get down on Ted for this draft but this may be a very good draft for him.
The TE pick is the only iffy I have. He is not big, fast or possess great hands. Duh!

WTF is supposed to be 7' 310 lbs and run a 4.4? Said to be a good blocker and have good hands. I don't know where you get your info from. No matter who the GM is in GB people would find something to bitch about.

Maybe you need to read more. --Here's what CBS has noted about R. Rodgers.

"Lacks the bulk and strength to hold up as an in-line blocker in the NFL. "
"Possesses the ability to make the incredible catch but will drop the occasional easy pass and struggles in traffic."
"Only started 11 of 37 games over his collegiate career. "

He was projected to go in the 6-7 round. TT took him in the 3rd.
No one's bitching, only curious.

Was responding to roger over. Not big? 6' 4" 257 is not small. Draft and develop. Can easily put on 10 lbs. Hell , Ray Lewis was 225 when he was drafted. It seemed to be a bit of a reach , but that's who they had on their board. None of us are scouts or have done the home work the Packers have done.

Linsley is a really strong guy. Put up the second most bench reps at the combine. To me he looks like he's good at walling off in the run game. The knock on him is his athleticism but I think he gets to the second level well and is a good helper in pass pro. Where he'll struggle is likely with a quick twitch interior rushers. Going against mike Daniels in camp could help him a lot. He made all the line calls as a 2 year starter at osu which is a plus. I have a feeling he's going to be the opening day starter at c.

I like Linsley too. I still think they'll go with Tretter as starter with Linsley as the new long snapper and backup center.

If Tretter fails at center, they'll have Linsley.

WOW!

The more I watch his film the more I like this guy. How in the hell did this guy fall to us in the 5th!? I've watched 4 of his "Abbrederis vs 'team x'" videos, zero of the "Abbrederis highlight" videos and I'm buying! I don't know his final 2 year stats, but I'm pretty sure he could have had monstrous numbers with a better QB. This guy is a technician. Very smart football player. Very dependable.

Let me stop before I end up typing an article.

I think one reason Abbrederis fell is his strength, or lack thereof. He'll have to hit the weight room and put on some muscle to compete physically against the stronger DBs in the NFL. His numbers for the bench press were the lowest at the combine: 4 reps. If he can gain about 15-20 lbs of muscle then he should be OK. Otherwise it'll be a tough road.

Low-ball Nelson? The usual knock is that TT overpays his own guys. I suspect that TT will try hard to re-sign Nelson, though it might be for 4 years or structured carefully due to Nelson's age. It is really hard to find a legitimate #1 receiver.

Drafting for leverage? No, it is only prudent to have replacements in case a player wants to go to team closer to home, has exorbitant demands, or simply gets injured. I suspect players look to see if the team has a viable replacement on the roster during contract negotiations, too.

+1. When Jordy gets injured like cow predicts, the Pack will have no shortage at WR. Guess that's leverage

Jordy had no problem signing his last contract. That's why he is who he is and the Packers and fans really like him. I'm sure he and the Packers will work out a contract with no problem. Has anyone EVER heard him say anything about money?
PS, I don't hate you, just your negative, feather ruffling posts. Question for you should be, why all the hate for TT, MM and the Packers?

Collins & Bishop, again ???
Collins has been gone almost 3 years and only now has Thompson made a legitimate attempt to replace him with Ha-Ha.
You're the only person I know that thinks Bishop was an impact player. He was just good & only that for a short while in GB.

You need to dump the G&G glasses. You're embarrassing yourself.

Packers will now sign some UDFAs too for more "leverage." There will be lots of competition at most positions and it appears that the decisions will be determined on merit. TT does such a good job managing the cap that financial considerations generally don't have to drive roster decisions. With 9 CBs currently, Bush ($333k dead/$1.7 Million cap savings) will have to prove his worth. Latimore ($0/$1.431M), Hawk ($3.2m/$1.9m), B. Jones ($2m/$1.9m), and Sherrod ($825K/$1.275M) are the only players I see that would have any significant impact on the salary cap. Obviously, I am not including AROD, Nelson and the like, and I am not suggesting anyone should or will be cut (players haven't even taken the field yet).

It's true. Jordy is gone next year. We can get a 3rd round comp pick for him most likely, save a bunch of money, and we have the WR's to replace him now.

Jordy is a legitimate #1 receiver. There aren't too many of them, especially ones that are 6'3", fast, with great body control and hands. I am betting TT re-signs Nelson. The NFL has less love for slot receivers. I would bet that Nelson's new contract is for more $ per year, with a higher % guaranteed than Cobb's new contract, even though Cobb offers some versatility as a PR and occasional half back.

BTW, saw Sherman's tweet (CB Seattle) that his new contract is 4 years, $57 total, with $40 million guaranteed. WOW: 70% of the max value is guaranteed! I defended TT's signing of Shields (4 yrs, $39 Million, $12.5 guaranteed or 32%). One can argue that Sherman is better than Shields, but the deal is an eye-opener.
