Packers Podcast: Decision to Keep James Starks Paying Off
At the end of training camp, it was questionable whether the Packers would even keep Starks on the roster. Keeping him turned out to be a good decision.
On Monday I joined Bart Winkler on K107 in Fond du Lac to take a look back at Sunday's Packers victory over Washington. We discussed a decision to keep running back James Starks that seems to be paying off, how and why Aaron Rodgers played as well as he did, and how the Packers view their loss to the 49ers now that the Niners lost to the Seahawks.

ble over Starks.
Starks proved me wrong yesterday from a talent perspective. Now he's just got to stay healthy.
The nice thing about being me is, I'm equally okay with being right or being wrong, when being wrong is a good thing!
Keep up the good work, Mr. Starks, and stay healthy

Talent was never an issue for Starks. It has always been about staying healthy.

If starks got 132, green would have gotten 150. Green is the better back, but starks got the holes.

very surprised and pleased the Packers kept Starks. I always have thought the talent was there but not the drive to maximize the talent. That, and the constant injuries. Hopefully, Starks has turned the corner and can provide some talent and stability at RB. Time will tell but I sure hope yesterday was not a flash in the pan.

no way the Packers were ever considering cutting a healthy 27 year old running back with a Super Bowl ring. I just do not belive that ever was on the table.

Since the 2010 playoffs--and before yesterday--Starks had one game with 20+ carries and two rush TDs. He had over 75 yards once.
It was a nice game from him yesterday but I'm not getting my hopes up for consistent performance.

Wise choice. .. There were some pretty big holes for Starks to hit. Give him credit for quick decisions but the OL deserves most of the credit.

Love the energy Daniels is bringing. I remember when he was drafted, some were calling him a poor man's John Randle. That'd be pretty awesome if he kept on developing to the point where we hear those comparisons again.

I too liked what Starks was able to produce on Sunday. Our O line looked really good against the Redskins, and that opened some good holes for him to get through. While I'm well aware of the skins woes on defense this year, I think that our O line should be able to do similar things against the Bengals.

If anything, the decision to not sign old, oft-injured free agent RBs like Jackson and Bush is paying off.
