Packers Look To Make NFC History

If the Packers beat the Bears on Sunday, they'd become the first team in the history of the NFC to beat a no.1, no. 2 and no. 3 seed on their way to the Super Bowl.

The 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers set the bar high as the only no. 6 seed in the history of the NFL to advance to the Super Bowl, let alone win it.

But with a win over the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional round of the NFL playoffs, the Green Bay Packers have an opportunity to make a little history of their own, at least on the NFC side of the bracket.

With a win over the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship game, the Packers would become the first team in the history of the NFC to advance to the Super Bowl as a no. 6 seed since the NFL expanded to a 12-team playoff system in 1990.

They would also appear to become the first team in the history of the NFC to beat a no. 1, no. 2 and no. 3 seed on their way to qualifying for the Super Bowl.

Thanks to the Green Bay Press-Gazette for laying the groundwork for the rest of the research.

It's too bad that the Coach of the Year award was voted on before the playoffs, because right now McCarthy would be a lock.

I'd just like to say to all these "fans" who ditched the Green and Gold for Jets and, heaven forbid, purple that are hopping on the bandwaggon to get out of here. Get the fuck out.

I disagree. I say welcome back. Are we really that petty that we wouldn't welcome back lost sheep?

Let them back in. But they gotta bring beer, or no dice. Maybe some pork skins and blind robins, too.

The welcome back ritual is simple. They place their right hand on a Packer schedule, left hand holding beer or brat and say,
" I (state your name) never will stopping supporting the only major American professional sports team owned by the people for the people of the United States America. I'll have another. Amen."

You know what? I should have put more thought into the requirements for reinstatement on the bandwagon. Beer, pork skins, blind robins, bratwurst, and the following admission:

Yeah...I think that should pretty much do it.

ABSOLUTELY! Fuck em. Following this here team ain't for the faint of heart. I went and got a GBP tat after 4-12. I remember the 80's. Times like this are the payoff. If you jumped ship when the going was tough, I got no respect for you. You are a weak minded parasite who has should never rep the G&G another day in your life. Lucky I don't B-slap your ship jumpin ass. Purple looks good on you. Hope I was clear. Petty? Who gives a fuck.

I want the Pack to get all the support possible, and I don't care who they get it from, just as long as they're cheering for my team.

my thoughts today, too. those who crucified TT and claim that any true packer fan had to cheer AGAINST the packers and support Brent should become Bears fans - where the senseless have a home. They really shouldn't get to enjoy this special run because they believed in the Green Bay Brents, not the Green Bay Packers.

Watching highlights of the big plays...seems like James Starks was a beast at picking up the blitzes- with a pancake on A-Rod's td run. That's coaching and being coachable for a potential future superstar.

Well said Fitz,...Fuck em!!!

As MM said...."THE TRAIN HAS LEFT THE STATION".

All the jumpers better get out of the way, no way we stop to pick their ass up and let them back on. Good things come to those who wait.

im still not a fan of tt until he can bring home a super bowl. i love the packers and always root for them. but 5 years have passed. if aaron rodgers was a flop then i would of said its ok. but you are looking at a quarterback whose path is set for the hall of fame (not saying he is a deadlock for it, by any means, but he is making a name for himself). but point is making the nfc championship 3 years ago, was an accomplishment. and pretty much they have had the talent to get there every year since. what they lacked was veterans and maturity. so here we go again round 2. it's really hard to argue that any team is going to get much better than this. even with starters coming back next year. they have everything talent wise. now it's up to the tt and mm to keep them movitivated.

I am not for amnesty. They should have to pay a $2500 fine and get a 5 year probation with a thorough background check. Unless they are a cancer survivor, in which case they should have free season tickets for life.

I agree about banning band wagon jumpers , my sister has season tickets and now cheers against the packers for telling Brent to hit the road , what I love about our team now is that no one is bigger then the team , Brent brought down the Vikings as I predicted he would , I won't even speak with my sister any more she is one who has been praying for rogers and mm to fail , no one player is bigger then the TEAM !!!

SInce you can't divorce siblings you have to surprise her with the intervention Ritual.

Get a schedule-preferably an ol PBR one, get a brat, put the robes on, get the song going, and bring her back into the fold properly.

She's failed in her anti MM/TT as so many have...now that you know how to bring them back...you have an obligation to try.
