Packers LB Jamari Lattimore Signs Restricted Free Agent Tender
Lattimore's one-year deal is worth $1.431 million. He will become an unrestricted free agent following the 2014 season.
Green Bay Packers linebacker Jamari Lattimore signed his one-year restricted free agent tender on Wednesday.
Lattimore had until Friday's deadline to sign an offer sheet with another NFL team.
By virtue of placing the original-round tender on him, the Packers could have matched any offer Lattimore received, making it unlikely he would have received a tender at all.
The value of Lattimore's one-year tender is $1.431 million, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today. The Packers linebacker will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2014 season.
Lattimore had also reportedly been taking part in the Packers' offseason program that started last week under a participation agreement that protected him while not being under contract, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Entering the 2014 season, Lattimore joins an inside linebacker group that has plenty of options for playing time but few with high-level playmaking ability. A.J. Hawk and Brad Jones remain the incumbent starters and are complemented by others on the roster such as Sam Barrington and Victor Aiyewa.
Last season, Lattimore had the best season of his career, making 35 tackles, two sacks and forcing a fumble while displaying good athletic ability, although perhaps not the discipline needed to play week in and week out. He started four games in place of an injured Jones.
Lattimore remains one of the Packers' core special teams player and was voted a postseason captain for the unit in 2012.

I may be suffering from MDF (Mock Draft Fatigue) but WHAT IF these scenarios play out:
Barrington makes the 2nd year leap and/or Lattimore whose play fell off late last year when he couldn't maintain weight can keep his weight up all season.
Maybe Sean Richardson makes the leap forward after suffering a lost off season last year coming off the surgery. If Micah Hyde plays as well at S as he did at slot CB is S really a need esp if Burnett plays w/ more confidence knowing he has a solid partner playing alongside.
Maybe one or more of the following WR's makes strides this offseason; Myles White, Chris Harper, Kevin Dorsey or Alex Gillett.
Stroh, on paper I agree but all 3 may not be positions of need. Boykin came here for a tryout after failing a tryout w/ the Jaguars...THE JAGUARS. And now most fans are fine w/ him as the 3rd WR. Sam Shields was productive coming in as a UDFA...just saying...We don't know from where or how contributing players will show up. And we're an injury away from a position of strength becoming a position of weakness.
I just want TT to bring in playmakers. Using Kyle Fuller as an example. If he can be a shutdown CB who soon could earn the moniker "The Isle of Kyle" or "Kyle's Isle" I'd want TT to pick him in a heartbeat at 21.

Even if Richardson takes a step, and even if Hyde is able to make the switch, the Packers still need to add a safety just for depth. And given that those are two pretty big "ifs" I think it would be just flat-out irresponsible not to go safety in either the first or second round if one rated worthy of the pick is available.
I can see the arguments for cornerback and wide receiver, but you'd have to really have a guy you love fall for it to make sense. You have capable guys in place already. So unless you are planning to not resign either Jordy or Cobb (unlikely) or you really don't believe that you have Harris' replacement on the roster, then you are either grabbing a guy you believe will be a pro bowler or you are wasting a pick to replicate what you already have. See the Eagles from a couple of years ago. They loaded up on corners and basically ended up with a guy with pro bowl level talent sitting on the sidelines half the time.

Good deal. Lattimore is good depth and ST guy. Still need a ILB picked high in the draft though.
